New Laptop, New Problems

So, my old laptop junked out. I have a Dell Studio now. The problem is when I have to use hotkeys. I try to use them, and the only way to make them work is to hold down the function key at the same time--at the opposite side of the keyboard. Any ideas?

Turn on battle mode. That'll map your hotkeys to your QWERTY buttons.

What exactly is battle mode? Also, after doing some research, I think it more has to do with my computer... D: the F# buttons are not default, and there's nothing I can do other than hold down the function key.

RE: New Laptop, New Problems

Go to the BIOS settings of your laptop and disable the double function of your F keys to act normally. That should fix your dilemma.

Thank you for your advice---I don't know enough about computers to fiddle with the BIOS, but I will use Battle Mode for a while.

How do you turn Battle Mode off?

Um... shouldn't the laptop default to not having to hold Fn?

I'd call Dell, that sounds like they screwed something up. Holding Fn is meant to do the other thingy, not use the normal F1 stuff.

Actually that specific model is retarded like that. I will search for a better way for you to do this yourself.

When you turn on your laptop press the F2 key, once in the BIOS go to advance settings, there should be an option there to revert priority back to the Function Keys (F-keys). The press F10 to save and quit or just head to the save and quit tap/option.
