2010 heRO PvP Tournament

Let's start off 2010 on a good terms~

Time
January 9th, 5 PM server time

How to Sign Up
Post within this thread with your team's character name and class. You may edit your post to change which character to join as long as it's 2 days before the tournament. This means that the deadline for signing up/editing is: January 6th 11:59 PM

Trans Team PvP Tournament Setup

-WoE mechanics in place (no knockback, woe damage reductions, etc) Note that this is just WoE mechanics but not WoE restrictions on skill usage.

-time limit: 5 minutes each battle

-team may forfeit the match or ask for tie before start of match

-maximum of 4 players per team

-each player cannot join more than 1 team

-your team cannot have duplicates of any 1 class. Different evolution of the same class family counts as different class (eg. assassin isn't the same as assassin cross)

-full round robin setup: every team fights another team once

-exiting the arena through any intentional means counts as a lost for you/your team

-if any participant got muted due to misbehaving when they are watching (such as interfering with the fight, fighting other audience, etc), they will not be unmuted when it's their time to fight (it'll be your own fault)

-healer, equipment repair will be available

-GM will provide rogues/stalkers will skills they lost for plagiarism during the tournament

-each win constitutes as 3 points

-each tie constitute as 1 point

Details and Rulings for Team PvP Tournaments
-location: the map "turbo_n_4" room 9: old flaggy track. We're on the *non* chessboard tile section. It's just a giant rectangle.

-access to kafra allowed inbetween fights (provide your own bwing to go back to town, GM will provide the warp from town to arena)

-no cute pets

-banned items: any healing items, token of ziegfried, any buffing/enchancing food/items, panacea, holy water, MSPD items, box of sunlight, yggdrasil leaf

-allowed items: green potions, ASPD potions, converters, spell scrolls

-Potions and holy water are only allowed if they are used via a skill

-no prebuff time: GM kills everyone with hell's judgment first (as dispel). PvP starts the moment GM resurrects everyone. Intentionally avoiding Hell's judgment through anyway counts as rule breaking and team suffers auto-defeat for this round. (note: if your team contains SN, remind host GM every time you are recalled to fight)

-banned skill: teleport, warp portal, marriage recall

-all other skills allowed without any restriction or limit (offensive resurrection for any reason allowed)

-note: anyone who died and revived once is automatically kicked out of the pvp room upon 2nd death, so there is no need to worry about infinite resurrection

-any team that doesn't show signs of aggression for a continuous 25 seconds count as auto-lost. Negative status infliction (lex divina, lex aeterna, etc) does not count as signs of aggression. Signs of aggression must deal actual damage, though no specifics on quantity of damage.

-a tie occurs if all members of both teams are dead at the same time, or if both teams got living party members, or if the 2 parties agree on a tie

-teams with the same amount of points in the end, they will send 1 player from their team to represent them in FFA battles, and battle will go as long as necessary until there's results. Order of death will decide the placement of teams with the same amount of points.

-no substitutions allowed: if a team member did not show up, d/ced, tourney lasted too long so they have to leave, or fail to attend for any reason, your team will have to fight as is. Line up is pre-made and no teams will be allowed to "go earlier" or "go later" because a party member may be absent.

-free win rule: for any team forfeits or is a no-show, any other team who fights that team gets a free win.

-No audience: this is due to the fact that it's completely impossible to see what is happening anyway, due to the size of the rectangular arena.

Prizes

1st place gets to pick which package they will get. 2nd place choose 1 out of what is left. 3rd place gets the last package. Every other player will receive the participation prize. Participation prize will only be given to the leader of the parties at the very end of the tournament, and it's up to the leader to distribute the prizes afterward. Players also choose 1 item within the participation prize bracket (players inside a team are allowed to choose the same item for participation.)

If there are only 2 or 3 teams, then only the winning team gets to choose the packages. If there are only 4 teams, then only the top 2 teams get to choose the packages. If there are 5 or more teams, then the top 3 teams get to choose the packages.

For the packages, each player within the winning team will get to choose 1 item within their package. Each must choose a different item within their package.

Question: Why was the format chosen this place as <insert complaints here> are unfair/ruin PvP
We took a small gathering of pvp-ers one night, asked them to vote on their relative personal opinion of the pvp tournament and produced this as the result following the votes as best we can. Some of the votes are close with people divided, so it's not possible to satisfy everyone.

Also last PvP tourney did allow potions. This time we banned healing items, so it's rather fair to please both side's preference. We may consider hosting pvp tournaments flipping back and forth for the potion rule every time (so next one allow pots again, the next one ban pots, etc).

What's Captain Hat[1]?

Also, economically speaking, isn't Crest[1] a bit much?

I suspect many more people would use it if Crest of the Rider[1] was moderately obtainable. I'd hardly call it worthless.

RE: 2010 heRO PvP Tournament

If you can't come up with more uses for the combo than solo leveling you clearly underestimate flee. So many players just assume that the age old "flee sucks for pvp/woe" saying is always, has always, and will always be true. It limits the scope of your vision for builds. Which is fine by me - kind of sucks for you, though.

RE: 2010 heRO PvP Tournament

I take nothing for granted.??
Agi sucking for woe is a conclusion I drawed from my game experience, from what I played, and from what I played against.??
Prove me wrong with a good build making use of that combo and I will bow.
But by good, I mean good; anything that can be pwned in half a sec is to be excluded, and also anything that could be improved by using something else than that combo.??

RE: 2010 heRO PvP Tournament

In light of Skin of Ventus[1] coming with a natural 10 flee as well regardless of your footwear, Crest of the Rider[1] isn't too bad or too overpowered for a flee garment. Matter of bonus hp vs more agi within the garments.
