Mario because he's fatter.

Definitely Luigi. He's definitely more epic and has far more skeels. Even if he doesn't get to use them often.

Luigi's rescued Mario before, plus he can jump higher (See Super Mario Bros. 2). However, he's not as brave. That's what makes him be (usually) not the hero of the games, outshined by his brother. Hoever, bravery wouldn't play much of a role in a simple battle between the two, so I think Luigi would win.

Easy way to find out, just put the two of them up against each other in Super Smash Bros.

Luigi may jump higher, but Mario is more accurate. Mario is also smarter, however Luigi has a way of getting lucky to get out of bad situations. So its a close call, but I'd say Luigi.
