novice wing help

soooo I started to collect items for the novice wing.??I got the first part in a breeze, and now I have to throw items into the black hole and hope for what I want.

Well, I just wanted to know about how the black hole moves.??Does it stay in the general area of can it go all over the place?

And what about the rainbow shell???I figure you need to use a rainbow carrot and probably a shell.??It there a way to put those two items in and not get a rock? (I just don't want to waste it D: )

one being very rare. one being very common.
the combination should be somewhat obvious
