Lying Darkness

Before the world existed, there was Nothing. When Nothing realized it was alone, it became afraid and created one third of the world. It desired a companion and created another third. When it realized that it had ruined the perfect nothingness of the universe and regretted what it had done, the world became complete.

When the gods went about the task of handing out names to everything that existed, Nothing decided it that it did not want a name. It begged the shadow to hide it so that it would not be noticed, and thus remained undefined, and an embodiment of the formless tempestuous void that once was.

Also known as the Living Darkness and the Shadow, this force of namelessness fights to destroy the World and bring everything back to the initial nothingness. It has the power to corrupt the heart and form, removing the identity of an individual and transforming them into faceless minions of the Shadow.

A long time ago, a ninja by the name of Akikage was walking alone and wounded in the desert, back from the first War. He had a great will to live, but in his state he would not have survived if he had refused the offer that came to him. As he walked, growing ever weaker, a voice came to him. "I can save you and make you stronger. For as long as a part of me stays inside you, you shall become ageless and immortal." The Nothing did not tell Akikage the price though, and so, infused with the determination to survive, the assasin accepted the offer. Trough this deal, Akikage gained great power, but soon, the Darkness finished its task, and Akikage wasn't himself anymore. He was now fully corrupt, losing his identity and becoming the avatar of the Nothing. He now lived to further advance the goals of the Shadow, to destroy everything.

For now, the Lying Darkness stays hidden, corrupting from the shadows, growing ever faster in power. When it has grown powerful enough, its minions will leave the shadows in which they hide and, trough the War of Emperium, it will absorb everything back into the Nothing.
