There's a reason those hats are quest items. They don't call it monster exterm for no effin reason! Seriously though you should try hatter. Some people get really lucky. If he asks you to join his clan though run. Run like hell! Tell him sorry can't stay for tea and go join FoH or somethin instead. I've only ever heard of Matrim asking people to wear a hood [1] for noble reasons. I also heard that hood [1] had a frill card in it (KGB? You be the judge).
