Should have it ingame aswell, or atleast a teen mode that censors everything in game. If you put it in terms people agree upon, such as "when you agree to these terms you here by condone the use of the teen mode function if you are under the age of 13 and if you choose not to do so and from there are then verbally assaulted or witness any sort of slang/foul speech commonly known as inappropriate, you have no right to whine or cry."

Would solve lots of issues.

We won't be doing anything of that sort.
RO already has various, private chat areas. If you feel the need to have a conversation that isn't main/public chat safe, then PM/Party/Guild chat.

As said in the past, RO chat filters are bypassable in about 3 seconds (not even exaggerating). If once person doesn't use it, then everyone can see what they post. It applies on your outgoing messages only, not the incoming ones.
This would make a "teen mode" useless. It would stop them typing certain things, but they'd still be able to see it all.

Hmm, true. I don't even know what I was thinking lol. It'd never work, people would always find a way to say something and bypass the filters.

If this was implemented, people would feel entitled to use it as much as they want to. You can bet money that at least one person out there would feel it necessary to overuse it so that entire lines are more curses than they are intelligible, and while I, personally, don't mind the cursory term, I most certainly would not appreciate such a thing. Restrictions would have to be put in place to keep such a thing from happening, but to put language restrictions on an adult language channel is fairly counterintuitive.

"Adult topics" are another can of worms. What would constitute an adult topic? Just about anything I can think about wouldn't really be appropriate in a public context, anyway, and you have PMs / secluded areas for private discourse.

It has good intentions, I feel, but it's for that "happy medium" that probably just won't happen, even with such a thing. We'd just end up with the other end of the spectrum.
