Ban on Public Account Selling

Please? It's very hard to take a server seriously when new accounts get auctioned every day. I work my ass off to get my gears, this kid pays 50$ and hay, he's got gen 5 incubus wings and 10 99/70 trans chars.
To me, seems like unbalanced "donation" (only in that you can pay irl money to gain a massive advantage), opposite of what is advertised. I know you can't stop people from swapping account info in private, but can you at least pass a rule to keep that shit off the forums? I'm sick of looking at it.

1. Its not a donation to the server, its paying someone else for a service, in this case...someone else's characters now become yours.

2. GM's will not intervene should anyone be a jerk during the trade. Meaning someone could scam you if they felt like it and not give you the account after they receive payment. At least if you donate to Pandora's Server you get what is promised by the amount you donate.

3. Someone somewhere did do all that hard work to get the characters where they are, they didn't magically pop up out of thin air. Someone had to earn the money they use to pay for the account somewhere too. You had to earn that money somewhere, usually by working. Even if you leech the money offa someone else like your parents they had to work for the money.

I really don't have much else to say on the situation.

I've never had a problem with someone using real life money to buy scraps of data which can be deleted in a second, especially for $50. Like what dani said, they worked for the money and decided to use it to buy an account. Perfectly reasonable.

I don't see how that makes much of a difference. Like Aaronock said, all that stuff doesn't just pop up out of nowhere. Someone worked for it, are you saying they don't have the right to do whatever they want with it?

Yea, I never took WoW or Guild Wars or Diablo II or any other MMO seriously either when people bought/sold accounts.

Seriously, if that's a criteria you use to judge a server/game you'd never take any game/server seriously...ever. Which is probably good, actually, since they're GAMES.

I'm fine with them selling & buying accounts. It is their account so their choice.

I don't know if that's only related to official servers and some private servers, but I've heard before that trading game accounts for real money is illegal since you're selling something that doesn't belong to you, but to the server.

In most major games that have this issue, it is illegal. You also risk high personal info leaking. That's why most games forbid it nowadays. Some companies, Blizzard included, Ban accounts that have been sold or traded to protect company assets.
