I found this interesting link to help reduce the lag for the users of Window 7 and Vista users. It does help me a lot.
I usually got 1ms as lowest and 750+ms as highest. I have like 8 750+ms I live in other side of the world (or 180% from Canada). I would like to share it to help the community get the experience of lesser lag (even it is not perfect xD)
After I tweaked the system using the guide I found from google, it reduced to
1ms up to <450ms. It reduced a lot of lag (more like I lagged very rarely)
Before you start attempt to tweaking, why not try to check the latency(ms) to check the result?
Quote:-cmd > type the "tracert heroserver.bounceme.net"
-record the highest ms and lowest ms (For Lazy people who want quick skim)
-The most important numbers for overall lag are closer to the end (though if the middle somewhere has numbers that's indicative of different problems). - azurerogue
Basically, you can tell the result by: higher ms, greater lag.
After you recorded it, try to do the instruction below this statement.
Link to help reducing the lag!
Note: Restart your PC first before doing the after-effect result.
then you should able to see the result like this (same as above quoted message for convenience):
Quote:-cmd > type the "tracert heroserver.bounceme.net"
-record the highest ms and lowest ms (For Lazy people who want quick skim)
-The most important numbers for overall lag are closer to the end (though if the middle somewhere has numbers that's indicative of different problems). - azurerogue
FAQ (Explained in Layman term)
-What is Latency?
Ans: Basically it is like water cycle. It cycles from your client to the server of HeRO. It should be fast and steady or else... The world ends. Kaboom~
-How Latency work?
Ans:
Definition of Latency and How it works
For better explanation, think Packet as WATER. Let's say it is like 1 packet = 1 oz of water. Ms is like speed of cycle. Think about water cycle.
-Why is high Latency bad?:
Ans: Well, because it is like... They're trying to get some water in VERY SLOW or LAZY INTERNET *ready for the whips*
-Why only Vista and Window 7?:
Ans: Like what on Life & Code said
Quote:It involves disabling Nagle?s algorithm, also commonly known as TCP no delay, which is basically an optimization of network traffic that tries to reduce overall packet volume but can cause extra latency in the connection
For layman term:
Quote:Reduce the overall amount of water and I don't care how long you're going to finish
into
Quote:I don't care how much water you get as long as cycle it as soon as possible!
-Does it work to XP?
Ans: No, because XP is the best Window OS for gaming.
A big thanks to:
Life & Code
Thanks also to:
Kuroyuki - for giving me layman terms when there are jargons. Also testing using bounceme and tracert.

Internet Stalker - for telling me what is the URL of the server (
www.hero-server.net)

azurerogue - for telling me how should we check the ms instead of lowest and highest.
Please tell me the result (Before and After) after you tried to follow the guide
I also want to see if it helps you.
