campus tours *whining*

Icon_sad Looking back at my day today, I felt extremely stupid. >_<"
For your information, I work part-time as a Student Ambassador who gives campus tours or helps out at the various events that the Liaison office organizes.

I gave a tour today to a family who came from the US and there I go all preppy and cheery (just being myself)... only to find out that they are a "diplomatic" family at the end of the day when the tour organizer told me that the father works in the Ministry in one of the states. Icon_redface

Maaan.. >_<" I felt like I made a fool out of myself with my happy-go-lucky spirit, but it seemed like the family enjoyed the tour a lot. I was polite, answered their questions and helpful during the whole tour.. but I felt I could of done more and be a bit more serious. Icon_cry Also, it is one of my dreams to become a diplomat or work for the government. Ever since I started working as a SA, I met countless people who are children of government officials... That's making me so desparate Icon_cry I want to work in the government, but I know I am just not.. good enough.Icon_sad

Bleh.. so, what should I do for the next tours? Continue to be the happy-go-lucky person or be a bit more serious? I am just afraid that being more serious would drown my passion for my university. Icon_cry

Feedback will be appreciated.. Icon_suprised

You seem to be great at what you do,
a happy go lucky attitude makes others happy which you seem good at, so keep it up and I'd think you'd be fine ^_^

I konw if I were there I'd rather have someone like that then someone too serious, never loose the passion for what you do ^_^

c'mon dreams are yours and you can succeed!
you did your best under the circumstances and it's all we can ask
anyways if they told you then you would show a different side of the school rather than the real thing
trying to impress rather than inform

I showed the real side of school.. of course there are some things I have to conceal like.. how bad is the cafeteria and how expensive are the textbooks. Icon_evil For those kind of stuff (food), I let them see for themselves, as sometimes, the quality of the food simply fluctuates so much that it's not like as I had it last year.. (last year, I called my cafeteria's food - mystery food ;_Icon_wink

One thing about me, I don't like lying about things. Either I just not say it (because if I can't be accused of saying a lie) or I say it directly. So, for SA, I just won't say what I think at times. So, technically, I inform more than I impress... that's my style in presenting everything. The only time I would impress.. it's when I impress people with my knowledge of the campus and stuff. That's about it.. Icon_redface
