Cant Start playing.

My girlfreind is trying to install everything, but keeps getting an error when she finally installs and patches heRO.

Her computer is good enough to play it. We did everything right. In this order:

Instal Rag_1010
Install Sak_1010
Patch Rag
Patch Sak
Install heRO
Patch heRO
Push "Start Game"

We checked her RO folder and she has the exact same files as I do. Everything is the same. Why wont it work?

We initially wanted to play in AncientRO but we both ironically got this exact error. After trying forever we finally decided to try another server, she finds this one. I install it, OMG IT WORKS. She installs it, OMG WE'RE SCREWED AGAIN. This is an insane nightmare. We've been trying at this all day and night. for the last 3 days.

Someone PLEASE help us. We really like this server[despite that we havn't logged in yet]. We don't want to have to do this all over again.

In order to answer beforehand. We deleted all traces of any Ragnarok Online off our harddrives before even starting to download the files to run this server, so it isnt like we downloaded to the wrong directory. We have all the updated drivers. We have updated Ragnarok and Sakray. We let both update until the start button lights up, allowing you to start the game. We downloaded the latest patch. We did everything. Mine works, hers doesn't.

well first things first start off by deleting your data folder if you have one... either that or rename it to data2. Then you might try re-installing the latest update that heRO offers.

:edit: meant re-installing not installing =/ also the full installer should get it working right off the bat instead of you having to download them each seperately

T'is true. I've downloaded the full installer, patched RO and Sakray repeatedly, installed heRO, patched the client-- And I get screwed over!

I've even tried downloading that November patch, extracted the contents into the RO folder, and got nothing. Even made sure the Data.ini file was perfect. It was. I've installed Ro, Sakray, and heRO so many times I'm becoming utterly desperate-- Can someone -please- help me out here?

If you need the exact error, just read my boyfriends post up above. It's exactly that.

I know my drivers are fully upgraded too, because I even did a safety check on them. This is really frustrating.

Anyway.

I just hope a GM can help me out here-- It makes no sense that my boyfriend's suddenly starts working, yet my doesn't!

Sorry, forgot to mention. She doesnt have a Data folder. We already know to delete that, even if she did.

Also, as I said, we've got all the most up to date patches for everything.

now you can see why we're so frustrated. Everything should be working, but isn't.

mind posting a screenie of each of your folders? o.O, usually the "novice" error spawns off an incorrect install, but by what you said everything is set up correctly but I'd still like to see

Umm, I hope that's what you meant by a screenie of my folder. It's of my RO folder..

hmm delete the data.grf and give it another shot, I don't even have that in my folder so that may be the cause of the problem. My folder only has sakray in it so honestly you could uninstall that ro altogether (not sure if it's iRO or kRO)

Make sure that the last thing you apply is the november patch, and dont start with the hero patcher, start hero.exe directly.

Did you manage to create a character, like did that error show up as you were login your character in or before?

Your screenshot is great, to help me further however, it would be great if it you used the folder option view -> details

I noticed I had not removed the link to the full installer from the download section of the forum, I removed it now because it's outdated and doesnt point to the correct ip. Please don't use the autopatcher, it will try to "patch" your file to the old server configuration.

We're working on getting a new full-installer and patcher that works

I just tried doing as you said; Deleting the data.grf file. Sadly, nothing happened, and I got the exact same error.

kk, here's what I want you to try (hopefully you still have all the installers) completely delete the heRO folder.

Install Sakray - don't patch
Install heRO - same directory as sakray
Install november patch - same directory as above

and the folder should look like this:
