The 10 heRO Commandments

When the war between Light and Dark began, quite a while ago, the Gods made a truce to ponder the rules of engagement and behavior for their Heroes. After much debate they agreed on 10 Great Laws that are to be respected by all of the Heroes, serve they the forces of Light or Darkness.

The Stone Tablets of the Law have been found at last, at a construction compound south of the Magic City of Juno.

Here they are, for all to see:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

First Law: Thou Shalt Never, at Any Time, Be a Jerk

Remember that beyond the character you are dealing with, there is a living and breathing person. Like you, that person has feelings, and deserves proper respect.

Behave and the fun factor will always be high on the server.

Second Law: Thou Shalt Not Take Away The Labor of Others for Thyself

Do NOT kill steal. Kill stealing is attacking a monster another has already begun to attack. Please find your own monster, as the attacker only gets a portion of the normal experience.

Addendum #1 to the Second Law: If someone specifically ask for help (through text or emote) then it is not Kill Stealing and it is 100% correct.

Addendum #2 to the Second Law: MVP monsters are free for all, so feel free to attack them. Remember that it could be more polite to first ask the attacker or the attacking party, although their permission is not required. Attempts to prevent people from killing a MVP (or any monsters for that matter) are highly frowned upon (such as using Pneuma or Heal on the monster).

Third Law: Thou Shalt Not Use Forbidden Magic (AKA Botting) to Speed Up Thy Leveling or Hunting

Do NOT bot. There is(are) a program(s), somewhere out there on the net, that will level your character automatically for you. All it does is loot and kill steal from honest players, and take up bandwidth for real users. It is STRICTLY forbidden and you can be sure that justice will be swift and unforgiving for those convicted of botting. Period.

Fourth Law: Thou Shalt Not Use Forbidden Magic (AKA Hacking) To Break the Laws of Reality

Do NOT hack. This includes doing crazy stuff like duplicating items or zeny, or exploiting bugs in the program. All you are doing is hurting the economy, so in the end you are hurting yourself. If you find a bug, tell a GM as soon as possible and by all means DO NOT exploit it. In this case, just like for botters, justice will be dealt swiftly and with no restraint. If you used the bug by mistake, then tell a GM. It always pays off more in the end if you are an honest player.

Addendum #1 to the Fourth Law: It is strictly forbidden to modify your client to give your character any kind of advantage over the others.

Fifth Law: Thou Shalt Respect the Services of Merchants

Before speaking with a discount Merchant, please check to make sure you have enough zeny for the item you intend to purchase. Most offer 20 or 15 percent off, so the math is not difficult. Also, if you don't have the money, don't ask the merchant to sell you the item at a considerably lower price. Discount merchants don't make that much of a profit, and none of them are willing to pay for some of your item out of their own pocket. Also, after you have agreed to purchase the item, you are bound by a verbal contract to buy it. Don't try to worm your way out.

About overcharge Merchants as well - Don't bother to give them anything that sells for 6z or less, because you won't get any extra zeny that way. So just sell it yourself.

These practices aren't that common on the server, but this is still a very nice service that Merchant class players can offer, and it must be respected.

Sixth Law: Removed

Seventh Law: Thou Shalt Not Beg the Servants of the Gods for Their Blessings

Acolytes (and Priests) are not your personal, walking red potions. Most will give you a
Heal if you ask them nicely though. Asking nicely would be something like:

"If it's not too much trouble, could I have a heal?" or
"Can you please heal me?".

"HEAL PLZ" and "HEAL NOW" will not do. As I always tell people, if your too lazy to even write out "please", then you don't deserve a Heal. If an Acolyte does Heal you, be sure to say thanks. Also, feel free to tip them (it is not required, but it is a good habit). They also really like Blue Gems for their warps. The same applies for Buffs and Warps.

You can also consider tipping them if one helps you or a Blacksmith you hired to forge your items.

Eight Law: Thou Shalt Not Be Slothful

Please don't beg for money. We all know novices are poor, and you will be
until around level 30. We all had to go through exactly what you did. So just be patient. Beside, you can get a nice starting kit from an NPC on Newbie Island (AKA Training Ground).

People are overall quite generous with their time towards newcomers, but they aren't expected to give them money (although this is not at all forbidden to help newcomers on a volunteer basis).

Ninth Law: Thou Shalt Not Attempt to Steal from Thy Fellow Players

Don't scam, and don't fall for scams. The less people that fall for them,
the less scammers will do them! Popular scams are offering to "upgrade" your weapon for you, which you can just go yourself. Or, selling items for 1 digit more than usual. So a 100z item would become a 1100z or 1000z item, hoping nobody would notice. Another example is advertising Slotted Equips in the window and putting one unslotted equip amongst the slotted one. Unfortunately, people are sometimes inattentive. Just remember, if something sounds way too good to be true, it probably is.

Note that scams are usually more common on the bigger servers, but it is still important to remind people to be wary when buying stuff.

Addendum #1 to the Ninth Law: You are responsible for your account, if you give access to your account to someone and that person screws you over... then we're very sorry but it was YOUR fault for trusting that person. Be wary with what you do with your accounts.

Tenth Law: Thou Shalt Not Bother the Gods nor Their Chosen Proxies (GMs)

GMs devout a lot of their times and energy trying to make sure that everything works as well as possible on the server. GMs are to be treated like the Acolytes/Priests (See Seventh Law), they are not there to answer all of your questions (especially those that can easily be answered by a quick trip on the internet or by asking other players). They are there to answer technical questions, moderate the Main, ensure that the Law is obeyed and make events for your enjoyment.

With that said, GMs are also humans and they are as bothered as anyone else by pointless PMing and harassing. Don't beg for Buffs, Heals, items or money. And please don't harrass them for events either (You can politely ask if there are any events planned any time soon, but don't beg for them). Most GMs try to make events regularly anyway.

May Erebos cleanse you in the searing flames of Chaos.
