Homunculus Help

Hello, I am new, and I don't know where this should go, so please spare me if I did this wrong.

Since I am new I am thinking of which character I am going with, and leaning towards Alchemist that uses Homunculus.

I am tore bewteen Amistr and Frilir
AAlso what builds

I have been reading up on the class, guides and stuff
and I was thinking of going either these two ways

Amistr
Str/Agi minor Dex
So the monster attacks Ami, while he keeps them occupied while you deal the main dammage. I am worried, because would this give Ami the exp, because I am doing most of the damage and he is just doing the finishing attacks?

Frilir
Agi/Vit minor Dex
Frilir attacks the monster while it attacks me. I would rarely get damage, leveling would be hell till alchemist, but I can tough it. I am conserned if this works. Because would the monster even attack me? Or focus on Fril?

So I need help deciding which pet I should go with when I start on the server.
Also any other help could be greatfull.

this server doesnt have homunculus yet. but its on the way soon(give it a few weeks). maybe make a hunter or something to get gears ready for your alchemist

Homunculus is in phase 10, so to be more precise 6 weeks from now (this week is phase 4 of the svn update)

The next phase was delayed a bit so I would expect anywhere from 6 to 10 weeks. I'm surprised you didn't want a Vanil. Most Alchemists go for the little jelly blob.
If you let Ami tank while you dealt the dmg you would get the most exp. If you let Filr attack while you tank then it gets most exp.
From what I've seen Filr and Vanil are the strongest homuncs. Lif can be good but they are rare. Amistr are so rare I never really see them. Last time I played an alchemist I got a Filir. I chose to do the tanking while it dealt the damage. It works great but takes a long long time to level the little guy. Once they hit lvl 99 though they become like mini-mvp. Filir are great against melee because of their amazing flee.

Our server has reset (for a fee after level 40), maybe that can help you get your merch started any way you'd like, then switch later to the build you decide with your homun.

Amistrs are just tankers. I just like em, but I wouldnt take them if I'd go for a good fight. Filirs do up to 4k dmg I think, they've got high ASPD and nice dmg, also big flee. Atleast once they're lvled.

And at level 99 as a evolved form with max intimacy, it's utterly deadly. Mental Change @_@
