Maintenance This Saturday!

The lag is bad, I know. I hear it all the time, and I experience it myself so it's not a matter of internet connection. So.. I want to attempt a maintenance, to transfer the server on a newer, faster computer that I have, along with the big hard drive and the memory. I'm hoping this will greatly help the lag problem, and if not I can always revert back to the way it was.

For this, I will need the server down for a few hours while I set things up.

The maintenance is next Saturday, February 9th 2008 starting at 1 PM.

Here's the plan we came up with to lessen the pain of the downtime for our heRO addicts

We will open up the test server to everyone (everyone who has the up-to-date patcher that is). A high rate 2000/2000/500/200 (base/job/drop/mvp drop) with a fresh database, there will be a job changer, platinum skill npc and a healer, the @go command will be enabled along with a few others. There will be the up-to-date items (including diablo's), but no custom items or gears available.

PVP event
The players will need to make teams of 5, and will have 3 hours to level and gear up for a PVP 5 VS 5 event happening right after the 3 hours have passed. The event will be hosted by GM-Law and GM-Loki, along with possibly a new intern GM.

Each team of 5 has to be in a guild (you have to find an emperium yourself), the guild name can be different from you real guilds in heRO, but your player name must be the same (for easy prize distribution later).

Each team will battle each of the other team once for 3 minutes. A Win earns them 3 points, a tie is 1 point each. Team to score the most wins, if 2 teams have the same score they tie for first place. We're not responsible if players have to leave and teams find themselves with less than 5 members, they can still battle the other teams.

All healing item that you can gather are allowed (there wont be fish available), but no Yggdrasil leaf (priests can resurrect however), no buffing food, no buffing item like authoritative badges and such.

Prize for PVP event (all prizes are per player of the team)

1st place: 10 allegiance points + 1 OCA + 3 OPB + 1 Hat Voucher + 2 Jewel Box + 250k zeny
2nd place: 5 allegiance points + 2 OPB + 2 OBB + 1 Jewel Box + 150K zeny
3rd place: 1 wrapped mask + 1 OPB + 2 OBB + 100K zeny
other teams: 1 wrapped mask +??2 OBB + 50K zeny

"Be The First" event
In addition to the PVP event, there is also a small contest with prizes (some of them are for the non-pvpers):

• First player to make it to 99
  Prize: 1 Wrapped Mask
  99 Super Novice Acacius
• First player to make it to 99/70 trans
  Prize: 1 Wrapped Mask + 1 Jewel Box
  99/70 trans PureGoodness
• First guild to have 5 members that are 99/70 reborn
  Prize: 3 Old Purple Box (each)
  Show all 5 members with their halo + the guild window.
  5 guildies at 99/70 trans Tripp and Co.
• First 8 players together in party with the 8 different homunculus first form
  Prize: 1 Jewelery box (each) + 2 Old Blue Box (each)
  Show all 8 members and their homunculus + party window open showing all names.

• First player to obtain a MVP card
  Prize: 1 OCA + 3 Bloody Branch
  First MVP Card Taku
• First player to gather 100 different cards
  Prize: 1 OCA + 1 Wrapped Mask
  Make a merchant and get a cart, put all 100 different cards in the cart and take screenshots.
  100 cards Craix
• First player to make 10 Million Zeny (10,000,000z)
  Prize: 150K zeny + 3 Old Blue Box
  First player to make 10 million Zeny .Mei.
• First player to make 100 Million Zeny (100,000,000z)
  Prize: 1 cookie
  First player *cough* to make 100 million Zeny GM-Loki
• First guild to reach level 15
  Prize 15 Tribal Solidarity + 10 Old Blue Box
  First guild to lv 15 Razorblade Soldiers
• First guild to reach level 30
  Prize 30 Tribal Solidarity + 10 Old purple Box
  First guild to lv 30 Razorblade Soldiers
  

Saturday you can post screenshots in this thread when you've done one of those accomplishment, you only earn a prize if you're first to post it of course.

The prizes earned during the events on the test server will be noted and distributed later (which is why you must use the same name as one of your main characters).


In addition to having fun participating in the events, you can also test builds fast, explore nameless island & the abbey, possibly go to moscovia (empty), you can get a homunculus, play in the battle arena, etc.


Schedule
Time of the maintenance (EST GMT-5, server time of course) on 2008/02/09

12:55 = Real heRO server goes down.
1:00 PM = Patch is added in the patcher and the High Rate server goes up.
4:00 PM = PVP event starts

The server will be up whenever maintenance is completed.

The high rate 5-hour database will indeed not be kept. The real heRO server database will be unaffected.
