If someone sent you a death threat, would you pursue the person in court?

Hmm context of the death threat might be a releavnt detail, If I knew the person was joking or if I had any relationship where I actually knew stuff about them, I probably wouldn't.

But on the other hand if it was serious, or if the person was a complete stranger, chances are most likely I would try to get some money out of it.

I'd only sue if you fealt that your life is in actual danger from the said death threat, but if that fails, you might just piss them off enough to carry out the threat

You can always get an RO (Restraining Order).
I believe you could take them to court and jailed if the letter showed a real threat.

First actions would be to get a restaining order followed by a civil lawsuit if you believe it is serious enough. A threatening letter is enough proof for legel battle. If you wish to get more, then there will need to be more evidence so that you'll have the preponderace of evidence.

depends on the situation. restraining order can be considered for malicious intent by giving you that letter. if its a joke, i'd reply with a teddy with a prozac T-shirt on it.
