RE: Suggestion for a new WoE-System

Well Im not to thrilled about this as a WoE Idea, but an event like this sounds awsome.

teOx Wrote:i dont know why you guys keep saying that it doesnt sound like woe2 at all to me. reminds me of alot of those war games where you try to control many areas and raise your flag in those areas and get points for having your flag up and defending. or basically any capture the flag game with more than just 2 flags.

technical term: "zone control"

RE: Suggestion for a new WoE-System

+1 to the notion of making a team capture-the-flag/zone-control event!
(shuffle the players for better gameplay)

anyhoo, (although i don't WOE here) i think the original WOE system (although messy, uneffective, etc) is good enough as it is because it really makes you go through the whole castle and enjoy the walk a little bit. And all the nooks and cranny(s) could be used as part of the attacking/defending strategy...

so when can we have the event, ayu? xP

RE: Suggestion for a new WoE-System

It has just nothing to do with WoE 2.0, its a tactical mod similiar to the one used by some realtimestrategygames (someone remember "Z"?) or the fps Sauerbraten (Cube 2 Engine).

To be honest, you kinda froze my enthusiasm. Icon_suprised I thought this idea is pure spiffyness and that other people prefer "non-stop-fights", instead of sitting bored in WoE-room pressing they Stormgust-hotkey for 2 hours straight. It would really add a lot to the gameplay, a lot more flow as well as adding some tactics. Well, after the feedback I can't see it happen. Icon_confused

Areyon, the idea to me sounds cool, its just I think we need more guilds/people inorder to make it not be a Precasting frenzy. I mean, if 6 guilds of atleast 20 actives migrate here, and they work hard and end up gearing everyone up head to toe then I could understand having something like this happening.

And @teox your right when ur saying what hes suggesting isn't WoE 2 (I was wrong) but I just misinterpreted what he meant.

WoE 2 allows you to use like 20 diff flags in different zones inorder for you to get where u need to be, but you can't capture them. What hes suggesting sounds cool, but I think its something that should be an event.

The first lesseon a revolutionary must learn is that he is a doomed man. Unless he understands this, he does not grasp the essential meaning of his life.
And thus he isn't a revolutionary if he doesn't understand.

Agreed that it is more suited for event. People are used to woe as it is, I don't think a revamp of the existing woe would be welcomed. Woe2 might also be transformed into an event eventually.

RE: Suggestion for a new WoE-System

i know and played Z... it was oldskool but cool dude!

and yes this has nothing to do with WOE2 and that's why it's a +1 to the event!

and yes WOE2 needs much much more ppl to play and strategize effectively (yet still involves some solo-runs) while the area-capture concept is more about sticking together, expanding cautiously (as not to over-expand), and several side-attacks or flanking when necessary (though when ppl get used to it they will find that solo runs are strategically less-suited for this concept)...

but i think scripting the timing and scoring mechanisms will be a pain, so perhaps it's one point for every minute of every captured flag or something (not real-time like unreal tournament or other FPS games do)...

just my 2-cents...
