In seriousness though, those who already have vent with us, if/when it gets changed, check with your personal forums for the new info (in B's case I'll pass the info on to your guild leader/officer to post, TA, you know where to go).

Ok so it's been brought up that there's some concerns about moderating a ventrilo server, we would appreciate the GM team's feelings/ideas on this.

I don't trust killouz with vents, he usually gives me and other friends random address that don't belong to him xD

In essence, moderating. Ideally, we just create admin accounts for the various GMs and they could have mute and ban rights akin to what happens now with @main.
It's a question of if they'd want to have the extra hastle. I'll speak with Avogadro tonight about it too before he flies.

I think it would be best if more than the gm have accounts for moderating, as I'm sure that there wont be a gm on all the time, not to mention maybe gms dont wanna be on vent all that much, I'm not even sure all have a mic, also some might have their own vent for friends/guild.

Perhaps moderators can be appointed, chosen from the active people on vent, much like the in-game moderators.

Ok so it's looking more likely that this'll be up post New Year's (I'd do it now but Avo's flying out today and I'm not expecting too much traffic over the holidays). Basic @main rules will apply and initial adminning will be pretty small, just have to see how well it gets picked up (also looking for volunteers around the globe, please PM).
We will provide a link to a copy of the client too.

Yes, going dark for a few days while I time-zone-jump for Christmas. But in general, we'll try to do the server shuffle and whatnot as soon as possible. Potentially pre-new-years, but it all depends on time.

And yeah, basic @main rules apply, as well as the broad scope rule of "don't be a dick". We want this to be fun for everyone involved and really would just like it if everyone could play nicely like adults. It would make me all kinds of happy.

I'll give all the HeRO GMs admin access, the ability to name sub-admins, and the ability to apply administration as fitting, and I'll stay out of the admin process and uphold their judgments with one special reservation: I use this server for a lot of things, many of which are work-related. There is only one box and no plans on replacing it any time soon. Any attempt to misuse, hack, disrupt, or otherwise mess with the server will result in a permanent IP ban at the ISP level if necessary. There will be no appeal process to this.

But for the most part, we'll just have a friendly old time and enjoy ourselves, no?
