The Nightmare Pyramid Challenge is an official location that serves as an extension to the Pyramid dungeon. It is fully custom, and was released on heRO in September 6th, 2016.

About the Nightmare Pyramid

During an attack on the pyramids by Dark Allegiance radicals Ostellos and Eudoxie, the two take an ancient artifact from the structure. Unfortunately, said artifact was the best replacement for the ancient and long gone mana channeler for the Pyramid's mechanisms. Ever since, magic energies accumulates in the lower floors, making the monsters go berserk when the air is saturated with these energies.

As this poses a threat to the Thief Guild and Morroc, Agent Durai stands by the entrance to the Pyramid's Lower Floors, recruiting passing adventurers to help exterminate the monsters.


How to Access

At the Thief Guild, near the entrance to the basement's first floor (moc_prydb1 96 67), a Thief Guild Agent stands by. When you talk to him, he explains he's recruiting people to help exterminate monsters in the lower floors.

Once you agree to help the Thief Guild Agent, he'll introduce himself as Durai and warp you to the nightmare floors.

Fiend Extermination

Missions

To begin the extermination quests, just talk to Agent Durai in the nightmarish basement. You'll have the option to hunt Nightmarish Verits, Mummies, Minorous, Mimics, Ancient Mummies, Arclouze, and/or Amon Ra.

To complete a mission, you have to kill 20 of the mob you selected. In the case of Nightmarish Amon Ra, you only have to kill 1. If you talk to Durai and select a mission you've already taken, you'll have the option to stop hunting. If you select this, the quest will be removed from you. Note: You will lose the monster kill count progress for the quest if you choose to stop.

Once you complete a mission, there is a 23 hour delay before you can complete it again. When the time is up, talk to Durai and select the mission again to begin the hunt.


Rewards

You will receive the following rewards for completing a mission:

  • Nightmarish Verit: 500k Base Exp, 250k Job Exp, and either 5 Yellow Slim Potions or 3 Panacea
  • Nightmarish Mummy: 500k Base Exp, 250k Job Exp, and either 3 Small Life Potions or 2 Yggdrasil Seeds
  • Nightmarish Minorous: 500k Base Exp, 250k Job Exp, and either 3 Blue Potions or 5 Light Yellow Potions
  • Nightmarish Mimic: 600k Base Exp, 500k Job Exp, and either 5 Large Defense Potions or 3 Light White Potions
  • Nightmarish Arclouse: 600k Base Exp, 500k Job Exp, and either 5 White Slim Potions or 3 Speed Potions
  • Nightmare Ancient Mummy: 650k Base Exp, 550k Job Exp, and either 5 Large Magic Defense Potions or 3 Light Blue Potions
  • Nightmarish Amon Ra: 1.5m Base Exp, 1.25m Job Exp, and either 3 Rainbow Cakes or 1 Yggdrasil Berry

Amon Ra Spawns

Every 20 minutes starting from when the server goes online, all monsters without a respawn time are killed in the second floor of the Nightmarish Pyramid and the normal Amon Ra Map (moc_pryd06 and moc_prydn2). This is a quality of life change done to prevent Amon Ra's spawns to crowd the map, thus avoiding annoyances while leveling when killing a mob that turns out to give no exp. However, due to technical limitations with the script commands, killing monsters without a spawn time also means that alchemist's summoned plants, marine spheres and mobs spawned via GM @commands will be affected as well, meaning you may notice your plants randomly die, but this is only once every 20 minutes.
