− | Note: The content of this changelog will come into play when the server is back up on June 25th after our extended upgrade outage.

| | | |
− | ==New Client Release== | + | ==Known Issue/Bugs== |
| | | |
− | A new client has been released for heRO, and with it come many changes. You must uninstall the old heRO and download the new client to connect to heRO. As usual, we will have the full installer. We recommend that you continue to whitelist the new heRO directory on your Antivirus, as the heRO patcher may be identified as a virus (which is no different than the current heRO client.) This new client will not only bring lots of quality-of-life changes but also unlock a lot of further development potential for heRO. Please look forward to all the future customizations and new features that the new client will allow heRO staff team to develop and expand upon this game!
| + | * Buwaya Cave's treasure box weakness may spawn multiple weakness points if multiple people from the party talks to the NPC inside the box at the same time |
− |
| + | * Buwaya Cave randomly sends players to the box instead of sending them to the box only on re-entry of the instance |
− | If you are using Windows and you are having trouble with Windows Defender or are concerned about Windows Defender's warning for heRO, please follow this guide here: [Whitelist heRO for Windows Defender]
| + | * Buwaya Cave also randomly allows players to enter normally on re-entry instead of always being sent to the box |
− | | + | * Undine Spear level requirement is incorrect (should be 48, not 95) |
− | ==Reporting Bugs==
| + | * Yin Headdress and Yang Headdress cannot be costumed |
− | | + | * The Food Depot in BG is unreachable |
− | With the massive number of changes and improvement in quality of life, we ask everyone to please report all issues in the heRO discord if anything behaves differently compared to the old client and is not mentioned in the changelog. heRO discord will open its community thread feature for easy reporting of issues without support tickets- so you can see if another player has already reported your problem. We remind all players that if there's anything that's not mentioned in the changelog and you decide to keep a change private to your mechanical benefits, that will be treated as bug abuse. It is to all players and the server's benefit to report any bugs and issues so they can be addressed swiftly.
| + | * Mapflag for woe is not working correctly |
− | | + | * Lich Afanasay slaves look like Sorcerers |
− | ==Gameplay Changes==
| + | * Elemental resist potion status icon seems inconsistent |
− | | + | * Male hairstyle #82 does not work |
− | * Equipment loadout is now available. You have 2 sets of equipment ready such that when you swap between the load-outs, all equipment will change accordingly, including costumes.
| + | * Auto-feed on pets does not work (does work on Homunculus) |
− |
| + | |
− |
| + | |
− | * A new platinum skill "Equip Switch" is given to all new characters. You can hotkey this skill so that you can swap equipment loadout on demand. This skill will show up as a Novice platinum skill. This will allow players who use battlemode to switch equipment on a keyboard press. (note: for existing characters, the job manager will grant you this skill when you talk to it)
| + | |
− |
| + | |
− |
| + | |
− |
| + | |
− | * If the target of a spell moves out of line of sight, the spell is cancelled but you will get SP and catalyst cost refunded
| + | |
− |
| + | |
− | * Mob pathfinding has updated according to official emulation changes, with some customization: this results in mobs' walking differently compared to the current client and they update their target finding faster. Unfortunately, this makes them scatter faster compared to heRO's old behaviour (but not immediately give up chasing a hidden Assassin either, unlike other servers). We have customized it so the mobs are more likely to stay grouped up when they are chasing a target that has disappeared so it is to the hiding player's advantage, but it is still not the same as heRO's current implication where all mobs walk to the same cell where the player is hiding and stays there for a second or two.
| + | |
− |
| + | |
− | * Finger offensive is now a single multi-hit attack (similar to Sonic Blow) | +
− |
| + | |
− | * Storm Gust knockback will follow Hercules's emulation changes instead of official's "random" Storm Gust knockback (South-west portion of Storm Gust will tend to knockback to the northeast. The edges are most likely to push things away from the Storm Gust.)
| + | |
− |
| + | |
− | * Ice wall will follow iRO's implementation instead of Hercules or kRO's emulation when it is cast directly on a non-boss mob: the mob only leaves ice wall via the west and south. If the target of their chase is north or east of them, they will try for 220 loops in an idle mode while being allowed to use chase skills. What is the duration of 220 loops vary depending on what the monsters see as options and how fast the server processes these possibilities. If it's a boss-flag mob, the mobs will be stuck in Ice wall as if it's an ankle snare until Ice wall expires.
| + | |
− |
| + | |
− | * If Ice wall is casted in front of a monster, but not directly on top of it, Ice wall does not break line of sight to reset aggro anymore. We have tried to migitate this change via a custom AI pathfinding change for the monster to "slow" their reaction accordingly, but the final behavior is overall an indirect nerf for High Wizards due to changes in emulation tech update
| + | |
− |
| + | |
− | * You can spend skill points if you are mounted on a Peco again | +
− |
| + | |
− | * Frenzy bug where Frenzy cancels all self-buffs in current heRO client should be fixed
| + | |
− |
| + | |
− | * Miracle of the Sun, Moon and Stars have been buffed to have a 0.1% chance instead of 0.02%
| + | |
− |
| + | |
− | * Union of the Sun, Moon and Stars no longer cost a skill point to learn it: it will appear and disappear depending on your soul link status similar to Beast Strafing
| + | |
− |
| + | |
− | * Some spells have its animations updated (this is official RO animation update and not part of heRO's custom spell animations), especially ninja spells and 3rd/4th class spells by monsters
| + | |
− |
| + | |
− | * Emergency Recall can no longer be used outside of War of Emperium
| + | |
− |
| + | |
− | * Monsters that are invincible (such as Great Demon Baphomet and Lost Dragon) are immune to reflect or Tarot Card of Fate's fixed damage, even if the client displays that they take damage
| + | |
− |
| + | |
− | * Dragon gears from Abyss 4 no longer reset any internal equipment timers, such as Snow Leopard card or Yggdrasil Crown
| + | |
− |
| + | |
− | * Consumable items are used up the moment you click on them, instead of upon successful usage of the item. For example, if you click on yggrasil leaf, the item is consumed before you cast Resurrection with it, including the case where you cancel out of the item usage.
| + | |
− |
| + | |
− | * Pet intimacy is now also at 5x the rate for gaining intimacy, to reflect heRO's 5x exp rate
| + | |
− |
| + | |
− | | + | |
− | ==Styla Changes==
| + | |
− | | + | |
− | At Styla, as a celebration of the new client release, you can freely choose between different class costumes. Palettes to class costumes are subject to change in the future as we improve compatibility. Class costumes are only available to trans characters at their final class, or to Soul Linkers, Star Gladiatiors, Ninjas, Gunslingers and Super Novice. Please note that in a future update, class costumes for these classes will not be freely available to all characters and will require unlock.
| + | |
− |
| + | |
− |
| + | |
− | For Taekwon, you need to unlock your class costumes based on your Taekwon Points. At 100 and then 200 points, you will unlock your available class costumes.
| + | |
− |
| + | |
− |
| + | |
− | Note that class costumes are disabled in WoE. You will revert to your normal class appearance when you enter a castle and restored when you leave.
| + | |
− |
| + | |
− |
| + | |
− | Skin tone is now available for all characters to allow further personal customization. 3 new skin tones will be available.
| + | |

− |
| + | |
− |
| + | |
− | Furthermore, new hairstyles and palettes are also available. 50 palettes have been added. All existing palettes have been updated to have all 20 hair colours available as well. A lot of the peco mounted palette has been fixed so that the peco is not always "pitch black" anymore as well. Do spend the time to look at not just the new palettes, but new ones as well, especially for Lord Knights and Paladins!

− | ==New NPC: The "Veterinarian"==
| + | |
− | | + | |
− | Located in Prontera behind a back alley, the "Veterinarian" (prontera 215, 260) can help you apply a "disguise" to your pet so that your pet looks like another pet that you have the pet egg for. You need to have a pet out along with other pet eggs, then the "Veterinarian" will change your current pet to look like one of your other pet eggs in your inventory. Pet disguises do not change your pet's attack power, stats, feed or abilities at all.

| + | |
− | A disguised pet cannot equip or unequip its accessory. If you want to equip its accessory, you must remove the pet disguise.
| + | |
− | | + | |
− | ==RODEX: RO Mail System==
| + | |
− | | + | |
− | You can send mail to other players that allow for items and zeny to be sent along with it. This will facilitate easier offline/self-trading as this will be much safer than dropping items on the ground. You can see if you have unread email in the menu. A small tax will be applied to zeny sent via Rodex. But if you only want to send zeny, Banker is still available to transfer zeny for you free of charge. Mails will expire if they are left unread, so it's best to check your mailbox often!

− |
| + | |
− |
| + | |
− |
| + | |
− | Note that GMs will not treat RODEX "trades" as legitimate trades. GMs will only recognize and enforce trades done via in-person trading when both players are online. Items and zeny sent via RODEX will always be treated as a "gift" from one player to another.

These tokens are now tradeable- effectively making it possible to trade and sell the old BG points, or to gather points across different characters you have on to one character
| + | |
− |
| + | |
− | * There is a recommended quest option to guide players to know about some of the heRO customs. The current version is relatively basic but we will work to revise this in the future. | +

| + | |
− | | + | |
− | * Platinum skills can get removed upon trans and levelling up again. If this happens, contact a GM to fix it for you.
| + | |
− | * Monsters now shout out skill names just like players. In the future, we'll see if there are ways to disable it to reduce the spammage on some skill-heavy locations
| + | |
− | * Costume brokk's Steelcap's item description is messed up | +
− | * Ring of the Flame Lord and Ring of Resonance improperly list that it can be equipped by extended classes, even though it should be upper trans-only (trans 2-1 and trans 2-2) | +
− | * Extended classes and Homunculus do not have heRO's custom updated in-game skills description that is accurate (regardless if the skills are customized or not)
| + | |
− | * World map "recommended level" for challenge is highly inaccurate | +
− | * Lutia world map shows Lutie in the hover for every map such as Lutia fields
| + | |
− | * The old blacksmith text-based UI is yet to be reinstated for people who want to do batch refines
| + | |
− | * Draconic Schematic is missing Tone of Gold as available costumes to create
| + | |
− | * Some items are not accepted by the BBS for trade posting, even though it has no item restrictions
| + | |
− |
| + | |
− |
| + | |
− | Some item restriction display is inaccurate, such as the new Battleground point replacement. We are still investigating why item restriction display is correct for 95% of all items, but some are incorrect. List of items with known display issue for item restrictions are:

Thanksgiving 2024 has a short quest that starts in Prontera, which leads you to Yuno and its nearby fields to hunt the Super Turkey! This quest counts as completion if you are nearby, so don't be shy to party with your friends in a large group to take it down together. Turkey can fight back, especially against commonly seen tactics, so if you are having difficulty, try to vary your skills or utilize some less-seen classes!
For your efforts, there are 2 new costumes available: the Costume Singing Bird or the Costume Gryphon Hairband. You can also get 20 prize medals and 1 Autumn Mouse pet egg!
As heRO's anniversary ends, the server rates have reverted to normal: heRO will be back to 5/5/5 in rates, with 10x for all OCA cards.
Kaldheim Arena's number of Prize Medals have been lowered from its increased rate: upon finishing all 10 waves of the arena, the number of medals decreases from 30 to 20.
Port Malaya monsters, including Buwaya, no longer drops Prize Medals regularly (though Buwaya Instance still gives out Prize Medals as rewards for all players who are part of the instance when Buwaya dies.)
MVPs' cooldown of skills are down determined by their individual entries instead of cooldown by skills. For example, if a monster has multiple conditions to cast Jupitel Thunder, then each conditions to cast Jupitel Thunder will have its own cooldown instead of Jupitel Thunder sharing its cooldown. This should make some MVPs be more difficult again compare to the large scale AI change that made MVPs significantly easier. In general, this means MVPs have a lot more skills to use, though compare to pre-client update in June 2024, MVPs are still not as likely to lead things off with a skill to start the fight.
Monsters with specific counter attacks will try to switch target to the one who triggered the counter if possible, instead of triggering the counter attack against its current target. For example, say that a Sniper and a Paladin are in a party against a monster where the Paladin is tanking the attack and the Sniper is spamming Double Strafe against it. The monster retaliates any ranged attack with Firebolt. Before this change, the Sniper can freely spam Double Strafe safely, as the monster's Firebolt retaliation will be casted on its normal target- the Paladin. Now, the monster will attempt to use the Firebolt counterattack against the Sniper instead. The tank will also need to re-draw its attention. This change in AI is also a response to make monsters more difficult to fight again since the client update.
"Fleetly Fading" now disables the user's HP regen, following trend of all "red build" equipment.
