Contents
English
- To play, everyone must understand and be able to write comprehensible English. If a GM addresses a player, they must be able to understand, answer and comply. Perfection isn't required, only enough to allow communication.
- Only the English language is allowed on the Main Chat channel. Other languages in other chats are allowed.
Respectfulness
- Insults, excessive swearing, sexist, racial, homophobic, transphobic or religious slurs, or any other offending comments are not allowed.
- Begging for items, zeny, services, etc. is not allowed.
- Advertising other servers/websites/games is not allowed. Excessive repeated mentions of other games/servers can be considered advertising.
Naming Conventions
- Make sure to choose appropriate names. This means no slander, profanity, insult, etc. and applies to characters, parties, guilds, guild titles, pets, homunculi, shops, chat rooms, etc.
- Player names that do not respect this rule may be jailed until a new name is chosen, or deleted, depending on the severity of the offense. This rule may be enforced retroactively.
- Using similar names as an existing player to carry out malicious acts is not allowed.
- Making characters whose name starts with "GM-", "GM", "[GM]", "Event-", "Event", "[Event]", "Intern-", "Intern", "[Intern]", "Admin-", "Admin", or "[Admin]" (or the small caps of them) is not allowed. These are reserved for GM usage and to protect from impersonation. Names similar, identical, or to impersonate those from the Chronicle of Heroes are also not allowed.
PVM, PVP and GVG
- Do not attack non-MVP (monsters without a "MVP" logo upon defeat) monsters that "belong" to other players. This refers to monsters attacking/chasing players, or if the player is also attacking that monster. This applies to player owned units such as Alchemists' homunculi. KS rules do not apply in public DB rooms or any GM hosted events unless stated otherwise by the GMs.
- MVPs (monsters with a "MVP" logo upon defeat) are free for all to attack, but players are not. This means that while players can do anything to the MvP, they cannot directly affect the player. For example, trying to make them go through warp portals, trapping competitors in ice walls, etc.
- Do not purposely kill other players outside of PVP/GVG enabled map via any means. This includes dropping monsters on players and using skills or items to defend, buff, heal, kill steal, undo aggro status or steal a non-MVP monster, unless the person requested so. However, defeating players in PVP/GVG enabled maps by any means is allowed.
- Outside PVP and GVG enabled areas, it is forbidden to use any skill or items that prevents players from entering another map, including towns, buildings, fields, dungeons, etc.
- Malicious use of trade requests in PVP and GVG enabled areas is not allowed. To prevent this, /notrade is available to all players.
Shops and Chatrooms
- Shops and chats are not allowed within a 7x7 area (3 cell radius) of NPCs and Warps.
- Only one shop can occupy one cell.
- In Prontera, shops and chat rooms can only be set up on the side walks.
- Shops can only be put up in maps without any regularly-spawned monsters. This excludes maps such as towns with a single monster like Wild Rose, Ijsbal, etc.
Cheating
- Botting will result in a permanent ban of all accounts, and any type of macro will result in a permanent account ban, no exceptions. Failure to pass a botting/macro test from GMs will be treated as using bots or macro programs, regardless of reason.
- Leveling, hunting or farming items while AFK is not allowed in any way or form. This includes the use of pets, homunculi, @autotrade, items, skill, etc.
- If you find a bug or abuse, report it immediately to the GM Team via Support Ticket. Failure to report a bug or abuse is considered a violation of this rule and may be seriously punished.
- Do not modify your RO files to give yourself any advantage, only cosmetic modifications are allowed, such as a new aura or different User Interface skin, etc. Examples of modifications that are not allowed include changing your Frost Joke/Scream skill to display no text, changing a graphic that affects your delay, changing graphics to lower your character's speed, etc.
Multi-Clienting
- You are only allowed to have 1 RO client open while playing heRO. You cannot be logged into more than 1 RO client at any given time, be it on the same computer or on multiple separate computers. Two or more separate real people playing from the same IP address is acceptable.
Player Stealing
- Do not steal other players' loot, be it from monsters or when a player is unloading pets. Items on the ground, especially if unloaded from the pet, still count as the player's property.
- If you lent an item and failed to get it back, this is considered stealing, it will be returned back to the owner if they make a support ticket providing unmodified screenshots of both the trade and the agreement to lend. The items and the agreement must be in the same screenshot. The report sent needs to be as clear as possible with a precise time frame. Reports about trades older than 3 months will not be considered.
- Item retrieval does not apply if the other person is banned. Any items regardless of origin are always permanently locked with the banned account (unless the account is banned precisely because of stealing in the first place).
- Account sharing or selling is not encouraged and not the responsibility of the GM Team. Loss of items due to account sharing will not be considered an act of stealing.
- The owner of an account is always defined as the person with access to the email tied to the account.
- Transactions involving items or accounts for real money will not be tolerated on any medium moderated by heRO (ingame, forum, discord, etc). Deals involving zeny and/or items in exchange for GM services are allowed.
Do Not Tolerate or Assist in Rule-breaking Activities
Inaction to cover up a rule-breaking act committed by someone else, such as not reporting a bot due to being in the same guild/friends, not reporting fully banned member returning to heRO (section below), can also count as an offense. You should report on rule breakers as soon as possible.
*Note: Normally when a player is banned, they are allowed to start totally fresh. However, there are fully banned players who are not welcomed in any HeRO medium and are not allowed to play even if they are willing to start fresh. This includes HeRO forum, HeRO social media, HeRO's discord servers, etc.
List of fully banned players:
"Silvanel"
"Ryan"/"Rain"
"Amil Gaul"/"Makachuk"
"Mane"
"Kohaku"
"Matrim Cauthon Jr."
"Sheam"/"Sam From Texas"/"Micr0"
Final rule
- If by your action(s) or inaction(s) you cause harm or seriously hinder another character's playing experience, punishments may be given according to the severity of the action(s) or inaction(s).
