The spirits of the dead need some help with their unfinished business, and you're just the heRO they've been looking for!
Quest
1) Talk to Spirit NPC in Prontera and agree to help.
IMPORTANT: You will be stuck in the spirit world until you're done with the quest! You may need to fight some pretty tough monsters. Come prepared.
2) Write what the Spirit tells you to write in the text box to continue. Write anything else to cancel out, if you need to prepare.
3) Once you're in the haunted mansion, the Spirit will give you rewards for helping out in previous years, if you did so
- 2010 - 1 Gold
- 2011 - 2 Pumpkin Mojo
There are 5 spirits to help, who can be visited in any order (although some won't be accessible until you've talked to others):
The Lady Tauriel
The Orc Bolg and his lady
The Friar Francis
The Witch Karaba
The Cursed Bat
There are also 10 "Spiderweb" prompts throughout the mansion that will ask you if you want to take the spiderweb or leave it. Take all 10; you will need them later! (See "Spiderweb Locations" section for details.)
The remainder of this guide follows a set order; you may follow a different order if you so choose.
4) Starting from the Spirit, enter the first portal on the top side of the hall to find the Orc Bolg and his lady. Talk to them both; they tell you they need help getting married.
5) Return to the hallway and, from the Spirit, take the second portal on the bottom side to find Friar Francis, who wants to help marry the Orcs, but is missing the book he needs.
6) On the left side of the room, there is a bookcase with a prompt that says "Note". Keep in mind what the note says; you will need that information for what follows.
7) On the right side of the room, there is a bookcase with a prompt that says "Books". Choose to examine the books, paying attention to the title and color on each book's cover.
8) Click the prompt again, and choose to push the books. Choose the title of the book that corresponds with the order of the colors you found on the Note earlier. If you do this correctly, you will receive 1 Gold, and a notice that you've found the Book of Common Prayer that the Friar was looking for.
9) Talk to Friar Francis again and he thanks you for finding the book.
10) Enter the portal on the left side of the room to enter the adjoining room, and speak to Aglaea. When she's done talking, speak to her a second time for a list of options. Ask her "Can you heal someone?"
11) Now return to the hallway through the portal at the top of the room, and walk directly across the hall to talk to the Orcs again. They thank you for your help, then kick you out of the room (this needs to happen, or you will not be able to proceed).
12) Return to the hallway again, and enter the portal at the top of the stairs to attend the Orc wedding by talking to the Friar once more.
13) Examine the Statue behind the Friar to enter the Cursed Bat's room. You will have to play his Wordzzle game to continue. It costs 10,000 zeny to play one round (there is a Banker NPC in the room, if you need it). You will need to kill the books flying around to collect letters to present to the bat to guess his word. Once you have 15+ pages, you can leave (if you are not getting the option to leave, log out and back in again, then try talking to the Bat). You will get Panacea as a reward (the number will depend on how many pages you collected before leaving). (Note: Its very important that if you guess a word right you will wait 10 seconds after that. The npc mentioned this too but you should not DC yourself to get out of the dialog!)
14) Go to the northwest-most portal and talk to the Witch Karaba. You will have two options, presented in Allegiance colors:

Go to hell!
15) No matter which option you choose, you will be sent to hell. Speak to the Spirit of Virgil, who will explain your situation. You will have to make your way through the 7 Circles of Hell, fighting the spirits there to collect Letter of Pardon items to advance to the next level.
NOTE: You can collect as many Letter of Pardon items per level as you want. You may also party up to make it through. The drop rate is lower in the earlier levels, but the monsters are also easier to kill. The monsters on all levels will assist each other if they notice you attacking one of their kind. From level five (Wrathful) onward, the monsters become aggressive. The porings (@mi Hell Poring/2920) will drop the letters at a lower rate, for those who have a hard time fighting the humanoid monsters. When you are ready to proceed to the next level, present your Letter of Pardon to Virgil. Continue to do this until you are sent back to Witch Karaba's chamber. You will receive experience based on your level or, if you're 99/70, you'll receive a Field Manual for your efforts.
16) The Witch will pluck a hair from your head, then give you your Allegiance points (if applicable).
17) Head back downstairs and enter the portal at the bottom to talk to Lady Tauriel, who wants you to find out who murdered her.
18) Return to the far left of the hallway and enter the first portal on the bottom side to talk to Aglaea. Ask her who killed Lady Tauriel. She will need 10 Spiderwebs to help you find your answer. If you haven't already found all 10, see the location list below.
19) Go back into the hallway and click on the boarded up doorway in the middle of the hall. Click on the Cup to find a clue to Lady Tauriel's murder.
20) Go back upstairs and talk to Witch Karaba again, who confesses to committing the crime.
21) Return downstairs to Lady Tauriel and tell her what happened. She will give you a randomized Halloween Pet Egg as thanks.
22) Go back to the Spirit who brought you to the mansion to collect your final reward. You will receive 4 Pumpkin Mojo, 1 Bloody Branch, and your choice of the following options:
- New hat (Witchy Hat)
- Chance at a random past Halloween hat (Witch Hat, Purple Bat Doll, Tormenting Ghost, Requiem Hat, Oogie Boogie Hat, or Deviruchi Backpack)
- Hatter Voucher

Once you have made your choice, he will grant you your items and send you back to Prontera.
