General Information

The depths of the Abyss Lake is filled with treasures collected by Detardeurus, the leader of the dragons within the lake. However, necrotic energies gather at the depths that empower the dragons and twist them beyond imagination. Can the adventurers resist the alluring call of the abyss and sink into its depths for treasure?

Access

To access the Depths of the Abyss Instance, talk to the treasure chest in the middle of Abyss 3.

Abyss 4 Entrance

Depending if Detardeurus is alive on Abyss 3, you will have to pay an additional 200,000 zeny to open the instance. Regardless if you pay the zeny or not, the instance will require 5 of each of the listed Bijous to be opened. Once the instance is created, the party has 1 hour of time to progress through the instance dungeon. It is possible to enter the dungeon as one person, though you must still be in a party of one.

Details

The dungeon allows teleport, ice wall and many typical spells, so use it to your advantage. A portal is available in the center of Abyss 4 for you to leave to Abyss 3. You can utilize the portal for your party's safety, if necessary. Note that the entrance of Abyss 4 is not the exact same location as where the portal is to return to Abyss 3, since it is on the opposite side of the central pillar, so be careful.

Purple Ferus, Silver Acidus and Black Acidus dwell in Abyss 4. However, whenever they die, they return back to life as either Bone Ferus or Bone Acidus close to where they die to immediately ambush the party. The undead dragons will attack the closest nearby target instead, so whoever is playing tank duties have to be on alert in case the undead dragons have a different target in mind compare to their living part.

Originally, there are 110 Purple Ferus, 75 Silver Acidus and 75 Black Acidus on the map for a total of 190 monsters. Every 5 minute, you will see a message about how the dark energy of the cavern intensifies. Whenever this happens, 25 more dragons have been added as a permanent spawn to the instance, making this instance extremely populated as the time goes on to a maximum of 465 monsters, making it the most populated map in the entire game. If your party cannot clear out monsters quickly and efficiently, you will be easily overwhelmed by the sheer quantity of monsters building up in the dungeon.

Every time the party kills a Bone Ferus or Bone Acidus, there is a 0.3% chance to trigger the caverns to be filled by a thunderous roar. This indicates that Detardeurus has spawned in Abyss 4 to guard its treasure. There is also a pity timer that if the party is sufficiently unlucky, then this event will always trigger on the 500th kill of Bone Ferus+Bone Acidus in the instance. Detardeurus is identical to the one in Abyss 3. If Detardeurus is defeated again here, then necrotic energy will consume Detale's corpse, paving the way for the true challenge of Abyss Instance, Bone Detardeurus. It will spawn randomly within the dungeon, accompanied by 2 of each Bone Ferus and Bone Acidus to fight the party.

Although the instance has no time limit, party members who spawned Detardeurus within Abyss 4 has a 2 hour timer before they can contribute to spawning Detardeurus again. Kills by players who are on this 2 hour cooldown do not contribute to the potential spawning of Detardeurus. This provides Detardeurus and Bone Detardeurus an effective spawning cooldown of 2 hours, even though the instance can be opened endlessly.

Items

Items in this dungeon follow a theme of "Draconic Power" which is obtained by gears in this dungeon. Each refineable gear provide 5 Draconic Power, and the sum of all Draconic Power from all gears on your character can provide you different bonuses. It will be challenging to get the high refines necessary, or you will need to equip a lot of gears that provide Draconic Power in order to unlock the gears' full potential. However, 3 of the cards in this dungeon also provide you minor bonuses along with 5 Draconic Power, and they can be added to any equipment slot.
