Mechanics Changes

  • Player DEF ("hard def") is capped at 95
  • Excessive hard def is converted to soft def at a ratio of 1 Hard Def to 20 Soft Def

This issue was known to GMs even 4 years ago, but the gear pieces were never assembled so GMs pushed this down the road to deal with it later. However, all gear pieces now exist on the server towards a build where you have over 100 Def while wearing a Golden Thief Bug shield to be invincible against all physical and magic damage. The build only takes damage from status effects or "etc" abilities. This is unhealthy for the game, as you can almost solo anything in PvM and are immune to everything if you get Pneuma in PvP. This is a temporary measure to deal with this build so that you cannot be physically immune consistently.

New Player Commands

  • whosell
  • savegearset
  • equipgearset
  • printgearset

By popular command, @whosell is back! Use it to search through all merchants to see if any particular items are available for sale!

Gearset-related commands are new and custom to heRO. You can save up to 10 gearsets at a time. When you save a gearset with the command "@savegearset (number)", the game will memorize what you are currently wearing. By using "@equipgearset (number)", you will quickly swap to that gear set again if gears are available in your inventory. This effectively allows you to have more than 2 gear sets from our equip-swap custom skill via commands. This will work really well with @restock classes such as snipers/gunslingers who want different weapons/gears with different ammo or if you have multiple armour sets to handle different elements/status effects.

If you don't remember what gearsets you have, then "@printgearset" will display what are the gearsets you have asked the server to memorize for you.

As these are new commands implemented for heRO, please ask a GM or TD member if you have any questions about these commands, or if you think that there's a bug related to these commands.

New Legendary Player Quests

We want to give special thanks to 3 players who contributed tremendously in Test/Development efforts over the past half a year. Even though players may feel like there's still a lot of bugs and errors to work through, there were a lot of work done in the background to implement a lot of unique features and they have also done a lot of internal testing on their own time. 3 new quests join the Legendary Player style quests in honor to their hard work in 2024.

Namreg's quest begins in Louyang (101, 205) next to the NPC who makes the Yin/Yang Headdress, the most buggy headgear that heRO has ever seen. Surely there won't be an item with an even worse development history, right? Completing this short item turn-in quest will net you the "Bug Catcher" 1 handed axe. But who knows what it does? Hopefully nothing buggy!

Rankin's quest is in the Comodo Casino (185, 99). Talk to the High Roller gambling addict to begin the quest, but do you really want to feed his gacha addictions? Completing this item turn-in quest will get you the "Fleetly Fading" rifle. Hm why does this sound so familiar?

Ange's quest is also in Comodo north entrance (173, 344), but the Elite Hunter will only speak with fellow Hunters who can demonstrate their expertise with the almighty Claymore Trap. Completing this item turn-in quest will get you the "Unnerfed Hunter Trap" accessory exclusive to the Hunter class to power up your traps even further.

Monster Changes

  • Fixed a critical bug where monsters who use skills above lv 10 (excluding Heal and Meteor Storm) are casting the skill at level 1 instead
  • Changed some custom heRO monsters who use skills above lv 30 to be using either lv 20 or lv 30 instead

Kathryne Keyron is back to fire her glorious level 28 jupitel thunders to push you off the screen again, and Lord of Vermillion by many MvPs are back to the lv 20 stunlock of doom instead of the puny lv 1 version. While this shouldn't affect regular monsters, this should empower a lot of MvPs to be doing their intended massive bursts, especially MVPs who were using lv 1 Brandish Spear instead of their lv 20 versions.

  • Foxring spawns naturally with 40 of them in Payon Cave 5, replacing Dokebi
  • Jailing spawns naturally with 20 of them in Glastheim Prison 1, and 15 of them in Glastheim Prison 2, replacing all Hunter Fly and Cramp spawns on those 2 maps
  • Orcring spawns naturally with 30 of them in Clock Tower B2, replacing Arclouze

Item Changes

  • Reset Coupons got a slight rename to "JoeJoe's Reset Coupon"
  • Condensed Potions heal 10% extra HP
  • All "headphone" type costumes that used to take up both the upper and middle slots will now take the middle slots only to allow more appearance customization for players. We leave it up to players to handle potential clipping or if this creates potential monstrosities.
  • All "mask" type costumes that used to take up both the middle and lower slots will now take the middle slots only to allow more appearance customization for players. We leave it up to players to handle potential clipping or if this creates potential monstrosities.
  • There's a report that Fox Armguard does not activate. That doesn't seem to be the case, but we've changed the Fox Armguard animation and extended the effect duration from 5s to 8s so that the benefit is more prominent.

Bugfixes

  • Sealed Shrine should be accessible again
  • Fixed an issue with the new world cat's hand fishing quest being on infinite cooldown
  • Fixed an issue where Condensed White Potion 1 weight higher than it should be (3 weight => 2 weight)
  • Fixed an issue where the entrance of Infinity Tower is camera locked
  • Fixed an issue where purple dragon plate is not giving the proper amount of HIT bonus
  • Fixed an issue where Confusion has no status icon
  • Fixed an issue where Abyss 4 minimap doesn't load
