Mining
Mining is one of heRO custom features. It allows the gathering of gems, stones and other items on some specific locations called the Mining Spots.

Quest
Mining can be first experienced in the Coal Mines located in Mjolnir Field. You can get there by using the Kafra's teleportation service from Aldebaran or Geffen to Mjolnir Dead Pit for 1,700 zeny.
To start mining, a quest given by the old miner in front of the entrance of the Coal Mines needs to be done. He will ask the player for the following items:
- 5 Meat (Wootan Fighter, Wolfs, Hydra, etc. Also can be bought at Butcher NPCs. Locations here.)
- 2 Piece Of Cake (Baba Yaga, Myst Case)
- 2 Apple juice (Mastering, Juice Making Quest)
- 2 Lanterns (Skeleton Worker, Pitman)
After giving him the requested items, he will explain how to mine and start selling picks, which can be used to mine. The player can choose to either buy just 1 for 1,000z or get the more economical option of 20 for 15,000z.
Mining Spot
The Mining Spot is located in the third level of the Coal Mine in the lower Western corner. Hover the mouse cursor in the huge rock in the middle of the lower west corner of the map in order to see the mining spot. (mjo_dun03 51, 56)
Advanced Mining Spot
The spot is in the second level of the Einbroch Mine Dungeon in the middle down the cliff. Hover the mouse cursor down the cliff in order to see the mining spot. (ein_dun02 130, 132). Certain requirements need to be met before the player can start mining from this Mining Spot.
Requirements:
- Base level 70
- 50 Mining Points
Mining Points
As more time is spent mining, the player may earn Mining Points. The more points the player has, the less chance the player will yield stones from mining, therefore increasing overall mining efficiency.
The basic Mining Spot at the Coal Mine will only increase Mining Points up to 50. At 50 points, the advanced Mining Spot is unlocked, which allows the player to accumulate Mining Points beyond the limit of 50.
After gaining 70 points, instead of simply earning another Mining Point, the Old Miner will show up with a quiz. If answered correctly, he will award the player with a Mining Point and a Strong Pick. This is apparently an anti-botting mechanism set in place which penalizes the player if the wrong answer is repeated many times.
The maximum possible points which the player can accumulate is 100.
Mini Game
There is a low chance that, instead of getting an item, the player is teleported into a special room for a mining mini game. Here, the player has two minutes to kill easy waves of monsters, rewarding good drops and experience. Listed below are the waves of monsters in the exact order of their appearance. The player can only proceed to the next wave once the current wave spawned wave is defeated.
- 4 Blockring
- 3 Bronzering
- 2 Silvering
- 1 Goldring
Killing all of the monsters will result in 3 million base experience and 3 million job experience.
Mining Hat Quest
- Orichalcum Ore can extremely rarely be found at the advanced mining spot in the Einbech Mines.
- The Old Miner at the Coal Mine entrance has an option to talk about Orichalcum.
- He will attempt to refine 5 Orichalcum Ore into 1 Orichalcum.
- With 10 Orichalcum, the Mining Hat can be assembled.
- Similar to the Fish Head for Fishing, this hat will reduce the chance of rubbish item drops from mining.
