RE: Magic the Gathering - Snapplewee - 01-06-2010 I only play in tournaments. Most of the people I play against I would never want to hang out with outside tournaments. But I do like discussing strategies and combos. Keep 'em coming folks! RE: Magic the Gathering - Snapplewee - 01-08-2010 Double post. I am going to draft with a friend who I didn't even know played MTG. He has no idea what he's getting into. RE: Magic the Gathering - Magister Magi - 02-06-2010 I started playing again around November of last year, and I noticed I was really behind. x.x New terms and strategies had me all confused. I'm pretty decent with it now though. I play a mono white deck, and am working on building a blue & white deck using the new Intro Pack from Worldwake (which I got around 12:30am Friday morning xD). RE: Magic the Gathering - Drak231 - 02-06-2010 http://findmagiccards.com/Cards/WW/Jace__the_Mind_Sculptor.html lol already at 50$. Like the other stupid angel... baneslayer angel. Damn... I started playing with my brothers when I was young and never stopped, been 12 years? Something like that. RE: Magic the Gathering - Magister Magi - 02-06-2010 Starcitygames.com actually has it for $60 now. Insane really, since the set has only been out for a few days officially (not counting pre-release). Sucks that my new Worldwake Intro Deck suggests adding the new Jace to it. Is Baneslayer Angel really that useful in a mono white deck? I've never actually played another mono white deck that had Baneslayer in it. Iona would be enough for me. I'll list my deck if you're interested in taking a look at it. Also, that's a long time to be playing Magic. If I include the time before I quit, I've been playing about five or six years maybe. RE: Magic the Gathering - Aaronock - 02-06-2010 Its a great finisher for White Control, probably great in White Aggro too. Its faster than Iona and has a lot of protection in it. Its probably so expensive since its so powerful in extended. A lot of Jund Decks can't really kill Baneslayer the way they can Iona. She's basically the new Serra Angel but better... RE: Magic the Gathering - Proxyt - 02-06-2010 Didn't go to Release on Friday due to previous arrangements to Karaoke... Was gonna go today (Saturday), but then mum urgently needed the car! So I missed out on a nice free Joraga Warcaller promo ahhh, so sad. It's a great card =p Jace and the Abyssal Persecuter are really good cards in the set don't think either are worth 50+ but 15-30 seems fair. I think value-wise, M10 and Zendikar are still the best though, not too many great WWK cards. RE: Magic the Gathering - Magister Magi - 02-07-2010 Unless they use Thought Hemmorage(sp?) before you can play Baneslayer, and you can't counter it. Then you're pretty much screwed. It snowed like mad here Friday and Saturday, so I didn't go to the Worldwake draft. Today the place I go to is having their Worldwake 'Release' event, but I don't have the money for that right now. x.x Just what is Joraga Warcaller? I haven't looked for that card online. Jund is a major pain in my rear. The mono white deck is Type II (or do they call it Standard now?), so I'm trying to prepare for the point when I'll have to take out a good chunk of my deck later this year. They'll be moving Shards, Conflux, and Reborn to Extended once the Zendikar block is finished right? Anyone got any good suggestions for white cards from M10 and the Zendikar block (I suppose listing my deck might help?)? Aside from Day of Judgment, since I've been told that many times already. RE: Magic the Gathering - Drak231 - 02-07-2010 Jace is clearly overpriced, his -12 is kind of hard to do like the elspeth one.... it's price's going to drop like did Sarkhan Vol that I bought 20$ and is now like 10$ and Nicol Bolas that I also bought 20$ and is also now like 10$.... Sucks lol Joroga warcaller is an elf which... well, instead : Multikicker 1G1C (You may pay an additional any number of times as you cast this spell.) Joraga Warcaller enters the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter on it for each time it was kicked. Other Elf creatures you control get +1/+1 for each +1/+1 counter on Joraga Warcaller. As for Serra Angel, I'd say it's closer to cards like adarkar valkyrie or battlegrace angel then baneslayer angel. My white deck : Creatures Serra Avenger X2 Intrepid Hero X2 Commander Eesha X2 Wall of Reverence X2 Divinity of Pride X2 Adarkar Valkyrie X2 Jareth, Leonin Titan X2 Pristine Angel X2 Yosei, The Morning Star X2 Elspeth, Knight-Errant X1 Akroma, Angel of Wrath X1 20 Others Awe Strike X2 Holy Day X2 Crackdown X2 Terachi's Grasp X2 Wing Shards X2 Righteous aura X1 Story Circle X1 Ajani Goldmane X1 Wrath of God X1 Quicksilver Amulet X1 Privileged Position X1 Planar Cleansing X1 Akroma's Memorial X1 Martial Coup X1 Sunscour X1 20 Lands Plain X21 Temple of the false God X2 Sol Ring X1 24 64 RE: Magic the Gathering - Aaronock - 02-07-2010 Jace I assumed wasn't for his -12 ability that you use him. Its the other abilities I would love to use. Looking at the top card of any library, and making sure it doesn't get drawn is cool, brainstorm is an AWESOME ability for combo deck players or anyone filtering out their hand, and bouncing definitely still will have its place on the game forcing the opponent to lose some tempo which is seriously what Magic is often about. I think this card is a huge centerpiece for any combo/control oriented deck, and probably a great place for any blue deck probably in the format at the moment (which appears to be bounce and merfolk based). I would love to make a bounce deck with the new cards that have come out to really compliment this. I'm glad blue is being pushed to use bounce more lately, as its a mechanic I felt of blue needed more attention (and thankfully pulling away from counters more). Again btw with Baneslayer vs. Iona...Iona is 9 mana to cast (7 plains I guess if you get that land thingy to revive her) and doesn't have nearly as many protections, she gets to stop one color's ability to cast, but I ain't sure how many decks are around that can't slow her down or stop her. |
