All-time Favorite Video Game Music - Kulluminatii - 12-23-2008

Hey guys, was wondering, what is your favorite video game music?

If you can, please name the game and then the soundtrack's name. Also, it would be great if you could give a link to the song on youtube so we can all enjoy itIcon_wink

Here are the songs from games that are my all-time best. Not that many, but these are all that I can think of. Will add more as they come to mind.

1. Grandia II - A Deus

2. World of Warcraft - Lament of the Highborne

3. Grandia II - Granas Sanctuary

4. Ragnarok Online 2 OST: Intro Theme

5. Guild Wars Prophecies Soundtrack

Megaman 2 OST

Pokecenter music! Woooot. Ryu's theme from BoF III is rather nice, too. I dunno, can't think of anything else right now.

Monster Hunter, Chaos Legion, Shadow of the Colossus.

Look up their OSTs and be amazed.

THIS.

Also, Final Fantasy IX. Great soundtrack. Also also, Chrono Trigger/Cross had some awesome tunes.

I'll leave it at that, else I'll become too specific and end up writing a three page essay on video game music.

Chrono Cross. Playlist. Probably some of the best video game music I've ever heard.

Final Fantasy IX. Playlist.

Shadow of the Colossus. Just one track this time, but I have the album if anyone wants me to upload it or something.

Wow, those tracks for Chrono Cross were amazing. I regret not picking the game up, maybe I should, I've heard nothing but good things about it.

I never really got into the Final Fantasy games but I do love the music used in gameIcon_biggrin

And for Shadow of the Colossus, I regret selling my ps2, should of played that game before I did. It looked amazing, and from listening the music, sounded amazing as well.

props to kull, Yoko Kanno rocks, too bad RO2 was sorta meh~ The music rocked tho

Chrono Cross gets the most repeats on my mp3 player lol. I have the 3 disc album, gorgeous gorgeous music. (followed closely by chrono trigger ^.^)

@kull, sadly to say 90% of the time you play Shadows of Colossus there will be no background music, the silence of the game is all a build up to the awesome boss themes tho

Now, I must give a shout out to Xenogears music, awesome~

I could go one somemore but my list would be endless, but i will say that imho older games had better music (which would be kinda unexpected since older games depended mostly on midi tracks, not like today) because the eye candy factor was less visual then simply cause emphasis was more on atmosphere and storytelling and the tech wasn't there to create images for it.
