What does it mean for a map to reset?

A map resets 5 or so minutes after the very last person leaves it.

Monsters are redistributed among the map, except for MVPs. Minis might apply (to non-redistribution), but I'm not sure.

would this reset apply to polymorphed monsters, ie would they disappear after said time frame has passed?

And if they do does boss or mini boss status on said monster prevent this?
