This created an unintended huge headache. We also got complaints that we "implemented" it wrong because "it doesn't work like that on official." That seemed like a logical and pretty run-of-the-mill bug to fix at the time, so we changed the effect. However, it turns out the "unintended" gear effect is a critical part of the build. It didn't help that the item and the script effect are different from each other, even on official servers. Addressing Shaman Combo Controversy

This created an unintended huge headache. Before Oct, we got a ticket report where the Shaman gears and Shaman combo are "bugged" because it did not boost the heal effect as the item description said. We also got complaints that we "implemented" it wrong because "it doesn't work like that on official." That seemed like a logical and pretty run-of-the-mill bug to fix at the time, so we changed the effect. However, it turns out the "unintended" gear effect is a critical part of the build. Also, due to inconsistent naming across the Shaman items, there's lot of confusion around Shaman Hat, Shaman Coif (doesn't exist, but it's mentioned in item descriptions), Shaman Hair Decoration, Shaman Earring, the "other" Shaman Hat, the "other" Shaman Earrings, and how only exactly 3 of those things form the critical combo. It didn't help that the item and the script effect are different from each other, even on official servers. Finally, our own DB Searcher is exasperating the problem as some players do not realize that not all items in the DB searcher is meant to be obtainable, and that duplicate items are often "accurate" as they are also duplicated from the official servers too. Therefore, players are trying to "fix the inconsistency" for the GMs to reconcile the duplicate named items. We appreciate the good intention and we always welcome player reports of bugs in the game, but this time, it caused a lot of problems.

Therefore, regardless of what other servers do, we'll stick with the following:

  • The "Shaman Hat" customized in heRO for Magician and Soul Linker in Old Red Box is renamed to "Norn's Feather Hat" (using its aegis name). This will make it clear that it is not part of the Shaman combo.
  • The corresponding "Costume Shaman Hat" is also renamed to "Costume Norn's Feather Hat"
  • Shaman Ring's effect is "Decrease SP Consumption by 5%", which is the current in-game effect and description. We will not be using the "MaxHP +50, SP recovery +3%" version.
  • Shaman Earring's effect is "Int + 2", which is the current in-game effect and description, and also consistent with all known version of this gear's effect.
  • Shaman's Hair Decoration's effect is "MDEF + 3. Adds a 5% resistance against Neutral Property attacks", which is the current in-game effect and description. We will not be using the version that also has Max HP + 50.
  • Fixed item description issue where items mention "Shaman Coif" which does not exist
  • Shaman Ring, Shaman Earring and Shaman's Hair Decoration together forms a combo that gives "Max HP + 300. MATK + 5%. Reduces damage from Neutral Property attacks by 5%", thus reverting the change in Oct 2022. We will not be using the current ingame effect of "MaxHP + 10 * Base Level. MaxSP + 2 * Base Level. Increase effectiveness of Healing skills by 10%"

We apologize for the confusion and unintentionally breaking an entire build-around gear set. The GM team has erred due to our lack of understanding and hastily believed the content of a bug report without a deeper investigation.

Anniversary Rate Reverted

The anniversary events, Halloween events and anniversary rates have ended. heRO's rates will be reverted back to standard rates on the next reboot.

Monster Changes

  • False Angel now drops Angel Blessing at 0.75%
  • Hollow Poring now drops Past Halloween Gear Box at 60%, and no longer drops Spiderweb Wings, Purple Bat Doll, and Witch Hat.
  • Hunter Fly no longer drops Mini Propeller at 0.75%. It will drop "Mini Propeller" instead at 0.3%. (Explanation: there are 2 Mini Propeller in the game: they look identical and their names are identical. The original one from Hunter Fly has no effect. The one from Old Red Box has an effect. Hunter Fly, Old Blue Box, and Old Purple Box will now drop the one that used to come from Old Red Box.)

Item Changes

  • Angel Blessing has been removed from Old Red Box
  • Asgard's Blessing has been removed from the Past Anniversary Gear Box
  • Bundle of Food has some random healing items that heal poorly yet are also unobtainable anywhere else removed from its list of possible items. This is to reduce potential storage hoarder clutter.
  • Bundle of Food has Red Prickly Fruit added
  • Camp Fire Hat has been added to Old Red Box
  • Classic Hat has been added to Old Red Box
  • Costume Lamb Hood has been changed from Upper, Mid and Lower to Upper and Mid
  • Costume Giant Poring Bag has been added to Past Anniversary Gear Box
  • Costume Vampire's Familiar has been added to Past Halloween Gear Box, as mentioned in Halloween Event
  • Mini Propeller has been removed from Old Red Box.
  • Old Blue Box and Old Purple Box will no longer drop the Mini Propeller with no effect, and instead drop the "other Mini Propeller" that has an effect. (Explanation: there are 2 Mini Propeller in the game: they look identical. The one from Hunter Fly has no effect. The one from Old Red Box has an effect. Hunter Fly, Old Blue Box, and Old Purple Box will now drop the one that used to come from Old Red Box.)
  • Old Purple Box has a chance to drop Past Christmas Gear Box, Past Easter Gear Box, Past Halloween Gear Box, and Past Valentine Gear Box, and the chance to get some previously rare items (such as Old Card Album) is mildly increased so that they don't have relatively awkward weights assigned (overall, the rate went from 0.02% to 0.06%)
  • Poring Soap Pipe has been added to Past Anniversary Gear Box
  • V4P Gear Box chance to be obtained from Old Red Box has increased by 0.5%
  • Vane Hairpin has been removed from Old Red Box. Note that Vane Hairpin is already obtainable in-game elsewhere.
  • Wrapped Mask chance to be obtained from Old Red Box has increased by 0.5%
  • Zombie Mask has been added to Wrapped Mask and Past Halloween Gear Box, as mentioned in Halloween Event
  • Green Operation Coat has been revamped: it no longer forms a combo with Scalpel, and instead gives a 100% chance to inflict Bleeding status with Acid Terror. Each refine rate of Green Operation Coat increases the damage of Acid Terror by 2%. Its dex, int, SP and bleed resistance remain unchanged.

The following are official items where their item scripts and their descriptions conflict with one another. As fixing the item to follow one or the other will arguably be a deviation from a default pre-renewal server, these fixes are classified as item changes instead. Reminder that changes to item descriptions will be applied by the next patch release and will not be visible immediately.

  • Ahlspiess's item description properly states that it autocasts Pierce at 3% chance, not 2%, to match its in-game functionality.
  • Detardeurus (Detale) card's item description now states that it casts Land Protector at 7% chance, not 5%, to match its in-game functionality. It also uses new heRO wording regarding its interaction with the freeze status.
  • Garm card combo properly autocasts Frost Diver at 30% chance, not 25%, to match its item description
  • Gatekeeper-DD's item description properly states that it autocasts Spread Attack at 5% chance, not 3%, to match its in-game functionality
  • Hunting Spear's item description properly states that it autocasts Joint Beat at 10% chance, not 5%, to match its in-game functionality
  • Ifrit card's item description properly states that it autocasts Earthquake at 2% chance, not 1%, to match its in-game functionality
  • Ivory Knife's item description properly states that it autocasts Joint Beat at 10% chance, not 3%, to match its in-game functionality
  • Kasa card properly autocasts at 5% chance, not 2%, to match its item description
  • Kettle Hat properly autocasts both of its spells at 3% chance, not 1%, to match its item description
  • Ktullanux Card properly autocasts Frost Nova at 3% chance, not 2%, to match its item description
  • Mythril Magic Cape's item description properly states that it autocasts Antimagic at 20% chance, not 2%, to match its in-game functionality
  • Muscle Cutter's item description properly states that it causes Bleeding status at 8%, not 1%, and that it autocasts Decrease Agi at 3% chance, not 2%, to match its in-game functionality
  • Platinum Shield's item description clarifies that it casts Level 2 Magic Mirror, instead of 2 seconds of magic reflection, to match its in-game functionality
  • Shadow Walk's item description properly states that the chance of Cloaking activation is 10%, not 5%, and the level is level 2, not level 3, Cloaking, to match its in-game functionality.
  • Tongue Mask's item description properly states that it autocasts Provoke at 5%, not 3% chance, to match its in-game functionality
  • Tooth Blade's item description clarifies that it casts Level 1 Slow Cast at 5%, and it boosts to Level 2 Slow Cast at 7% when refined to 9 or higher.
  • Wild Beast Claw's item description properly states that it autocasts Critical Wounds at 10%, not 1%, to match its in-game functionality

Bugfixes

  • Big Bell card properly casts Kaite at 3% chance instead of 30% chance
  • Cannon Spear properly counters ranged attacks with spear boomerang at 3% chance per refine instead of 2% chance per refine
  • Clown Card properly casts Tarot Card of Fate at 10% chance instead of 30% chance
  • Costume Crown of Victory is now tradeable, and can be stored properly
  • Giant Shield gives the proper movement speed penalty
  • Halloween Pet Box now drops the proper Diabolic Egg. The wrong Diabolic Egg can be consumed as an item so that you get the proper diabolic egg.
  • Lantern of Hope properly resists damage from all races, instead of boss and non-boss monsters
  • Necromancer's Hood properly casts Dark Soul Strike at 5% chance, instead of 0.5% chance
  • Ring of the Ancient Wise King properly resists damage from all races, instead of boss and non-boss monsters
  • Orcring Backpack, Foxring Backpack and Teddyring Backpack now properly drops gift boxes
  • Sting Hat properly casts Earth Spike at 3% instead of 1% chance
  • Enemy sprite should be less likely (but still possible) to stay on the screen with 0 HP after the enemy has perished (this will take effect on next reboot, when birthday rates are removed)
  • Malangdo costumer should use the proper name for some costumes

Item Description Fixes

Reminder that this will be applied by the next patch release. As these are item description fixes, none of the following has any functionality change in-game.

  • Black Cat Hat properly states that it gives 5% bonus exp, not 15% bonus exp for Demon race enemies to match its in-game functionality
  • Camp Fire Hat properly states that it has a 10% chance to autocast Fireball to match its in-game functionality

  • Scalpel properly states its Bleed chance (5%)
  • Toucan card clarifies that it has a 5% chance to activate its effect
  • Fixed various grammar mistakes reported by players
