Oct 10 2022 Changelog
If you are enjoying what heRO has to offer, or is having a fun time during this anniversary month, we will really appreciate it if all players can write a review on ratemyserver for the server, or renew their reviews by deleting their old one to write a new one. We've dropped out of 10th place now, but even 4 reviews will get us back to 10th, and more reviews will get us even higher. RMS ranking has always been the best way for the server to grow, so we'll really appreciate it if you can take the time to write a review for the server!

Anniversary Minigames
In the town of Fortuna, the anniversary minigames return to heRO server! Every 10 minutes, a new minigame will be held. Some minigames allow you to play solo, while some require a minimum of 3 players for the event to start. The minigames each give individual rewards and prizes for participation + doing well in the events! If you participate in 17 minigames for heRO's 17th birthday, you can also win both of this year's anniversary gears:
The animated Poring Soap Pipe lower headgear (note: this can be turned into a costume after October)
The garment costume, Costume Giant Poring Bag!
Alternatively, upon completion of the 17 minigames, you can choose to forego the 2 anniversary gears from this year to open 3 Past Anniversary Gear Box which may help you obtain one of the past anniversary gears!
If there are any issues with the anniversary minigames, please contact GM-Ayu in discord to report any issues.
(Thank you to the player Wys for drawing this picture!)
Anniversary Treasure Hunt
It's treasure hunting time! Scattered across the world in heRO, there are now special Birthday Treasures to look for! These treasure chests appear on every dungeon map and field map, and there are 360 maps with these treasures. The treasure chests may have the following rewards:
- Old Blue Box 100%
- Old Purple Box 50%
- Ancient Rune 15%
- Mystic Rune 10%
- Rare Rune 5%
- Heroic Armor Chest 3%
- Heroic Shield Chest 3%
- Heroic Garment Chest 3%
- Heroic Footwear Chest 3%
- Old Card Album 1%
So go explore the world and keep an eye out for these chests! The chests may take a very long 4-5 hours before they return to a map at a new location, so if you stumble into one, consider yourself lucky!
Anniversary Double Donation Rate
During the month of October (backtracked to Sept 25 2022), and ending by Nov 1st 2022, all donations made in that period will be worth double!
Example: 5$ donation service can get you 2 GM services instead of 1.
- This applies retroactively to any donations made starting on Sept 25 2022
- The bonus will not apply towards your total donation amounts or cumulative rewards.
Anniversary Rates Continue
Don't forget that server rate has been increased to 7/7/5 (x4 for MVP cards) for the month of October to celebrate heRO's 17th birthday!
GMs will also post news of other birthday celebrations as well throughout the rest of October. So be sure to check on discord and the wiki often!
BG gears
BG gears should have the same effect as their description now. Please give them a try! From now until at least end of this month, you may swap out any changed Glorious weapons with another glorious weapons with the same refine. Likewise, you may also see a GM to exchange any changed BG accessories with another BG accessory that cost the same amount of BG points.
- Note that GMs are actively looking at BG gear effects and may change them in the future to keep a close eye on how BG gears impact both pvp and pvm. BG gears that receive buffs/nerfs will be offered a similar exchange in the future, such that your BG points are never wasted due to GM's active interference with the item effects.
War of Emperium Changes Phase 2
We will be having our War of Emperium 2 public testing this upcoming Saturday at regular WoE time. Saturday's WoE1 will be cancelled and the castle will be returned to the GM team. We will ask players to attend and give WoE2 a try, along with reporting any issues discovered. Regardless of who owns the castle, GMs will be retaking the castle such that no one keeps the castle for this public beta testing. As this is a test session only, we'll advise against you using any valuable consumables for this fun session.
This will replace one of the Trial of Heroes that the GM team owes to the community for the inactive summer. Thus, whoever signs up and participates for the full hour in this testing will receive the following:
- 1 ToH Voucher
- 150 battleground point (on the character that you join with)
Depending on how this testing go, we may host another test on week of Oct 22, with the goal that we can release it as a permanent addition to heRO by Oct 29th. However, all dates are tentative based on the results + feedback of the public test.
Item Changes
Lantern Of Hope has been changed to give an additional 4% damage reduction from all races and a movement speed boost. Further more, bleed effect also activates the bonus.
Bugfixes
- Bloody Branch no longer spawns Archangeling, Deviruchiring and Rainbowring as indicated in June 2021- for some reason, their replacements were added to Bloody Branch, but these entries were not removed accordingly
- Sorc Night Cap accurately gives its bonus only if the user has more than 50 agi, instead of giving the bonus when the user has exactly 50 agi
- Fixed an issue where Fabre in Fabre tame keeps blowing up. It should no longer kamikaze now. Original intent was to give it Smoking skill so there's more variation in the starting HP of Fabres, but seems like it suicides with it instead of stopping at 20% HP threshold. We'll shelve this until another time.
- Shaman's Hair Decoration combo actually does what it reads in its description (Note: Shaman's Hat still needs to be fixed because its Engrish item description is beyond recognizable for what was its combo supposed to do)
Regarding Recent PvM Competition and Rules
Throughout August and September, we've now had 7 complaints regarding mvping and mobbing. I don't think that the current set of rules is working out very well. The burden of proof is unnecessarily high and it's unreasonable to expect players to play the game while a screen capture is constantly ongoing in case there's player conflicts. Yet sometimes it can be hard to interpret a player's motives even with video clips. Are they griefing another player on purpose by damaging every mob on a map by 51% and wait for someone else to finish them off to reap the benefits or to force said player to leave the map? Or did they escape from a damaged group of monsters with the only intention to escape a certain death? Was ice wall/ankle snare used to purposely force a mvp to teleport, or was it used to stay alive as the MVP is approaching due to being damaged at range? The current system is difficult to enforce, and still ends up in a lot of he-said-she-said situation as both players submit a ticket against each other.
The GM team is considering the options to either make all MVPs FFA, or investigate implementing @noks in hero. We are very aware that there are downsides to both approach, but the current situation is not sustainable so a change of some sort has to be made. Once we spend more time to consider all of our options, we will inform all of our players about our decision.
