RE: Server Rules
The "No spoiling custom quests in public" rule has been eliminated. Previously this prohibited mentioning specific quest steps on Main Chat, Prontera etc which could spoil the story or general quest outcome, and was for the most part only policed around 2010 and before when some of the general public was more sensitive on the matter.

While you will no longer be warned or muted for "spoiling" quest plot points or steps to follow, don't be a jerk about it if someone asks for an NPC location on main, and that NPC will happen to die at the end of the story or something. :P

RE: Server Rules
  • Server Rules Update

Many old rules that are automatically enforced have been removed, and some have been reworded, condensed and shortened to be easier to digest and for better clarity. We went from 24 rules to just 15 and from 9050 characters to around 7100, all while keeping the same norms and restrictions that keep the game flowing perfectly. Below you can find a list of changes.

  • The minimum jail time for violating the 3-cell vending rule has been lowered from 12 hours to 6 hours. Note that this is an unwritten jail time used as baseline by GMs for this offense.

  • The MVP FFA rules have been updated on the wiki to add more examples of "directly affecting other players", namely trapping competitors in ice walls.

  • The "English" and "English On Main" rules have been condensed into one.

  • The "Do Not Beg" rule has been added under "Be Respectful to Everyone", has also been shortened and reworded for clarity.

  • The "Restriction in Naming Conventions" rule is shortened and separated into sections for clarity. "[GM]", "Admin" and other variants were added to the list of naming restrictions.

  • The "No AFK Leveling/hunting" and "Do Not Cheat" rules have been condensed into one, and have been reworded to be shorter and concise.

  • The "Regarding Stolen Items" rule has been renamed to "Do Not Steal From Others" and covers shared accounts and the old "Do Not Loot Steal" rule.

  • The Mushroom and Dead Branch rule has been removed due to being automatically enforced. The Dead Branch item doesn't spawn monsters if there's already 200 on a map, and mushrooms automatically time out and would otherwise require like 20 creators all keeping shrooms alive to be any cause for concern. Any targeted abuse or attempt to crash the server can be addressed under the exploit rule.

  • The TOH rule has been removed as it is usually addressed within the rules of TOH itself.

  • The rule regarding Homunculi has been removed, as other rules cover this perfectly. Botting covers alchemist auto-skills and Hom AI, KS covers Homun kill steals, and AFK-leveling covers AFK-Hom Leveling

  • The forum rules have also been added to the wiki, as well as the discord rules.

RE: Server Rules
Server Rules Update

We are updating the rules about mob dropping in light of recent controversy on Warzone and Guild Dungeon maps. Mob dropping is frowned upon in heRO because mobs should not be used to purposely kill another player. By the old ruling, mob dropping is forbidden everywhere in the server. However, this logic breaks down on a map where it is encouraged for players to kill one another. It should not be the GM's place to judge how should a player to kill another player, on a map that has PvP and/or GvG enabled.

Old Rule Wrote:Mob Dropping
Players are not allowed to drop monsters on other players, this includes maps with MVPs.

Updated Rule Wrote:Mob Dropping
Players are not allowed to drop monsters on other players, this includes maps with MVPs. This rule does not apply on any PvP or GvG enabled maps, even if MvPs are present.

Follow up to this rule change, we will use this chance to clarify if "fly winging away from mobs when another player is nearby to count as mobdrop." GM will judge by intent to the best of our possibilities based on evidence submitted. As mentioned in a recent ruling, a few stray mobs that follow players are bound to happen, and you have to fly wing to survive. However, GM may find certain scenarios to have too many monsters to be deliberate, or determine that the situation did not warrant a fly wing escape for the players involve.

E.g. Fwing away from 2 skoguls and a frus druing Randgris fight? Reasonable/normal for that to happen unintentionally as long as it's not repeated. Fwinging away from a single seeker as a sniper? No, you can kill the seeker easily, that we will rule as mobdrop attempt on the player next to you.

There is definitely a subjective element to it and heRO GMs do not deny that. We ask that if there are issues with mob drops, players should try to provide as much screenshots with names (or better yet, videos) with as much detail as possible. Players may do it once to survive out of desperation, and we ask all players to be understanding with fellow players in hero if it only happens once. However if it does happen repeatedly or it's unreasonable to teleport away from the mob instead of just kill the mob, then it is grounds for a report.
