RE: 2 vs 2
We could have Battlegrounds and this.
I support the 2 vs. 2 idea.
I also like the idea of a double elimination pvp tournament. (Though that would take more work and balanced seedings to be fair.)

RE: 2 vs 2
Battlegrounds comes down to breaking the food storage / crystal as efficiently as possible when each hit can only do one damage (and in one of the maps skills hit, in the other they don't). At least in traditional BG, that is, who knows what crazy customization heRO's will have.
In traditional BG that generally narrows down usefulness by class even MORE than WoE does - but just like WoE people in BG who only go for kills generally just want a bigger e-peen feeling and don't actually help their team as much (unless it's planned that they defend the food storage / crystal.
Admittedly, my BG experience is limited to one server (though it was a 1k+ pop server so still a decent sample size of play styles). Generally, Bard's with the 190 ASPD guitar were a hit, as were ASPD SinXs, Firewall Wizards (the one situation in which a high wizard is mocked for NOT having firewall), etc etc. DPS is not an issue in BG (when it comes to actually winning) - hits per second are (very different from damage per second).
