??i loved your counterpoint. i feel like your argument against this topic is strong. i fear being rejected and you have really made me doubt my beliefs in this. ...srs careface.?? in general i think the idea is destined to fail brcuse noone want to lose somthing and work to get it back but they don't mind complaining about it when "i can't even read the s> and recruiting becuz of spam."
I don't see what you're trying to achieve here. With @main off being an obvious option already, why are you even bothering to do this? @main's one of the most common ways to communicate information to the players (more importantly, the new players) and the benefits of keeping it accessible for all greatly outweighs the problems main creates.
Yea now I have @main off by default and only enable it when I need to ask something. My hero-experience just got better in all the ways I could and couldn't imagine. Trying it is adopting it.
Honestly, though, GMs need to stop using @main as a way to confer information. You officially introduced an NPC to turn @main off permanently. I activated that option within a week or two of it being offered - but it sucks to find out on vent that I missed an event or something similar because @main was used to announce it. If you're going to offer an NPC specifically to disable an option, don't use that option to make server-wide statements please. (this is an OLD complaint, this has NOT happened recently to my knowledge - though with main off, I can't be sure :D)

When a GM does an event, he/she announces it in server broadcast aka yellow text. If they don't remind them, make a whine thread.
I think you just be able to post a certain amount of characters a day on main chat, so people actually use main to be productive not to talk about useless crap
ex) you an only type 200 letters a day, etc
Hercules 97 High Priest
Shepard 99 Whitesmith
Hawk 98 Clown
Barossa 97 Professor
