Ah, I was thinking it was something else :x Ha ha.

Still guessing there's only really a loss when it's an NPC being used and not an actual character. In the NPC case, you could do what Gravity themselves did with the Pharmacist in Alberta and set it up so there's some sort of um...for lack of a better term, balancing factor.

(The Pharmacist btw is an NPC that makes fat potions for you. However, he uses up 2 herbs and an empty bottle per potion. I think he also charges you zeny >_< but I don't remember)
I don't use @main. Do not ask for me there

Aslinn: 9x/6x High Wizard

He does charge a small zeny fee. In fact never make green pots with him you can buy green pots yourself for a lesser fee overall.

Hey, if you made an NPC that would do all the brewing but be as inefficient as the Pharmacist, I'd be cool with that.
- Albus Dumbledore 99/70 Professor - Albus DumbIedore 92/59 Professor
- AIbus Dumbledore 93/50 Wizard - AIbus DumbIedore 1/1 Novice
- Astaroth 99/70 Creator - Dawkins 99/70 Creator
- Exemplar 98/69 Paladin - Equitas 80/47 Paladin
- Mephistopheles 95/65 Lord Knight - Shogo Kawada 97/67 Stalker

I wonder if it would be possible to make an NPC that actually reads your character's stats and then has an output accordingly. So the NPC would have the same rates as the alchemist using it.

Then the alch gets to stay in business and do less clicking! I very much doubt it's doable though :x but I know next to nothing about scripting so I could be wrong.

More realistically, I guess you could just give the NPC a set rate on mats :x and said rate would be a bit lower than an actual alchemists (To be inefficient and remain fair to the alchies at the same time.)

What do you base that rate on? My brewing success rate and other brewers' that I know of are significantly different. Do you take into account a fully buffed, food-eating, geared brewer? Or just your run of the mill random alchemist who wants to see their name on bottles?

And it's stuff like this why I said:

Namine Wrote:Personally I'm all for faster brewing really: less silly clicks the better. I just don't think we know how to mod skills to brew multiples of that item at once. Doing it with NPC doesn't work cause that damages the fact how brewing success rate depends on the alchemist/chemist's stats and all that stuff...

Unless we're just modifying the NPC in Alberta to do bulks at once but nothing more about him... I don't see how a NPC can do brewing easily without source code edit which we ruled out earlier in this discussion unless GM say otherwise (plus even if we got a workaround for the NPC, they will never have ranked boost too even if the person talking to the NPC is ranked, due to the way how /alchemist and brewing works. Unless again, we got a source code edit for how ranking potions works...)

You CAN make the NPC read a person's stats and calculate accordingly. This includes checking if they're ranked; you can make NPC-given items somewhat 'emulate' production by players (It'll show up as them having made it, for all intents and purposes), which would account for the actual ranking bonus.

Alternatively, the skill itself could be altered, or new ones can be added. Which is fairly easy; production skills run off a database, meaning most of it isn't in the source, which in itself wouldn't be too difficult to mod for continuous brewing.
We want YOU!.. in Testing & Development. PM GM-Circe to join.

Main questions:

1)Is brewing at all profitable currently? ( profit/hour)

2) Will it be very profitable if the brewing process becomes more efficient?
