RE: Night Mode?
Ironically, I was talking about this with someone else on HeRO the other day. I'd really love to see this feature on the server, since I actually kind of miss it in a past one-- Just one of those fun little tidbits, I guess.

A definate yes from me. Ok

I vote yes

But for later (not now, there is already enough work to do :/ ), the idea of certain npc or certain mobs being enable only during night or during day seems great.

RE: Night Mode?
@lucky - no it shouldn't lag the server at all since it'll actually be less strain on the graphics card, on top of that the maps that are affected are easily changed.

I do; however, have a question(s)... if this is implemented what would be the day night hours? Are you planning on having it switch every 12 hours? Or would you set it up to switch every 6? Or go about a little more on the crazy side and set up something weird like 4/2/4/2/4/2/4/2 (so day/night/day/night/day/night... you get the idea)

RE: Night Mode?
so it'll change day/night according to server time right? wouldn't it cause issues with out of time zone players?

RE: Night Mode?
I'm personally not very fond of it, but somewhat indifferent, so if this seems to please the majority I would add it, it's just eye-candy it doesn't change anything to the balance of the game, nor add any lag.

Like I said, it only applies to fields and town, caves and other dungeons are not affected.

If we add it, everyone will see it, it's not an option that can be turned off with /effects

It's a feature of eAthena, so no extra work on my part, all I gotta do it switch it on and decide of the "duration". Any other feature added to it would be work however and we've got enough on our plate for now, but thanks for the suggestion nonetheless.

I was thinking alternating day/night of 4 hours each (would not follow real day/night time, since we have players around the world this would be impossible).

RE: Night Mode?
I play FlyForFun, and they have day/night mode. I don't really like it because during the "night" it gets really hard to see ;~;. It's a cool feature though, and it would be really nice to have on a few maps.

RE: Night Mode?
the only time this "night" makes it hard to see is when you turn down the brightness/contrast on your monitor. While this is as simple as modifying a few items in the source there's also features that could be done as add ons during the day/night.

I personally think 4 hours each is good because then you get 3 day and 3 night periods (if you want more you of course can go down to 3 which will give you 4/4).

RE: Night Mode?
Only a few maps are hard to see for Namine, and those are the dungeon maps which Ms. Pandora have stated to have no effects anyway...

If they are as easy as Ms. Pandora mentioned, then Namine will not mind to have it Icon_biggrin
