and the only really negative effect of marijuana is that people fight over it and it causes violence and people think that they fight over it when they get high etc etc. Half of the people who are against legalizing weed have never even tried it. So that's why it has such a negative image. and I approve of taxing it

People did the math and concluded that the income of taxes on tobaco could not overcome the cost for the medical for people smoking. That is why making publicity for tobaco is now illegal (Canada, Qu?bec).
Montreal even lost Formula1 last year because it is forbiden to be sponsorised by tobaco companies.
Tobaco is now forbidden in all bars.
Legalizing marijuana would inconsistent.
Studies have proven that repeated usage of marijuana do damages to the brain.
Trading lung cancer for brain cancer?

oh and IIRC "damage to the brain" from ganja is more likely something along the lines of "memory loss" rather than brain cancer... i have never heard of marijuana causing mass growths anywhere, but i may be wrong, please send me the link...

and if the issue is about consistency, then i would agree with Krim. But those Canadian municipalities still allow the sale of tobacco right? Do they allow the sale of ganja? If yes, then i have nothing to complain about. But if not, then i say shenanigans and rue those tobacco MNCs!

same goes for the rest of the world too... if you say that ganja damages your body, then please ban tobacco, alcohol, and spend more money in controlling factory as well as automotive emissions, apply green taxes, fuel taxes, etc and spend more money on general healthcare...

I haven't read the topic - but I have a friend who suffers from RTS (it's called something else now, I hear) which involved extended nerve damage which replicates the feeling of a traumatic incident which has been, physically, resolved. It almost always spreads. She first severed her entire nervous system in her wrist from her body due to a bad break. Since then, she has "enjoyed" the pain of breaking her wrist constantly. She smokes medicinally and it relieves some of the pain.

Regardless of whatever "positive" benefits are gained from smoking marijuana, I would be hard pressed to state that I think that medicinal marijuana is without benefits. It has effectively slowed, or perhaps stopped, RTS from consuming this woman's life.

well marijuana and weight gain should be understandable and yes if your trying to get pregnant put the bong down. and that goes for guys too. but as far as the cancer goes friggin french fries contain a chemical just due to the process of cooking the potatoes that could cause cancer and i will be gosh darned if i will stop eating potatoes becuse of fear of cancer. honestly marijuana affect for the most part the people in the immediate proximity of whoever is smoking it. and for the most part causes little

physical damage or violence. on top of that there is a only 3 % lung capacity loss compared to cigarette smokers who lose anywhere from 10 to 25% lung capacity loss.
