BG points were not increase. A win is still worth 6. Loses going to 2 and ties being 4 doesn't make that big of an impact.

The points you just mentioned are at the increased rates

If you recall a loss used to be 1 point and ties 2.

What Seth is meaning, is that you're getting more points - and you get a point for using a key, even if it cancels.

I agree with Seth. With the increase of 1 bg point for ties and losses the average time it takes to obtain a bg item has lowered. Also with the increase in exp gained and woe points more people will want to bg meaning less bgs will be cancelled. I'd say implementation of a lowered bg equipment cost be saved for the next next bg update or at least like Seth said no massive reductions.

You may think that the changes to BG will erase the need of lowering the gear costs and I respect that. But make a special consideration to the BG Armor sets.

You can pick up the very powerful Glorious armor set (+35% mhp, +16% demihuman resist, freeze immune) for 800 points that is usable on all jobs, or a class-specific BG armor set which gives sub-par effects, requires cards on each piece of gear, for the same 800 points. Obviously, little-to-no comparison.

Like Dani mentioned, the BG armor sets need a stat enchant to be truly useful. But another issue arises. The armor component of the BG armor sets costs a whopping 450 points (compare to 300 points for Glorious armor). Not to mention that Glorious armor has a higher success rate for stat enchanting as opposed to the BG armors.

Let's say that, later in the future, our KvM style BG is reduced to 5 mins max, with only 30 seconds to redeem rewards,??(30 secs between keys) which is the same as iRO settings. That's great! But it doesn't eliminate the problem. Understand the BG armor component -at least- should be lowered.

To put some numbers on Tulwar's argument. If you want a +3 stat enchanted (with only one stat you're shooting for, thus increasing the potential number of tries needed by a factor of 6) GLORIOUS armor, you'll need, on average, (1/.1333)*(1/.16667) = ~45 attempts. Of these 45 attempts, 20% result in a failed attempt that destroys the armor. This means you'll need to purchase (via BG points) 1+(.2*45) = 10 glorious suits. That's 3000 BG points.

For the BG armor sets you will need, on average, (1/.1091)*(1/.16667) = ~55 attempts. Of these 55 attempts, 34.54% will result in a failed attempt that destroys the armor. This means you'll need to purchase (via BG points) 1+(.3454*55) = ~20 BG armors. That's 9000 BG points.

This obviously does not include later refinement failures (since those will apply equally to both examples given here - although it increases them by a multiplicative factor making it "worse" for the class-specific armor sets).

We can debate the various levels of restricted use for each set, but the difference in costs (benefits of each set are up for debate) is pretty clear - and sad Icon_sad
