just installed heRO, and this happened when I started the game

That is a .RAR file, you need to unpack it first. It's similar to a .ZIP file

now I extracted it and configurated the size but when I start hero now the screen just turns black and partly white and then the game crashes ... :/

Garr has submitted a response via the ticket you submitted, try those and see what we can do afterward if it doesn't work.

Hm can't send a response email so I post it here. I tried everything garr told me to do in the mail but it still doesn't work. I can play other games without any troubles in full-screen mode or other modes "

Can you post screen of your setup.exe running? And I was refering to trying to run RO in window-mode.

Hmm now I can't even change the size in the setup .. there are just empty spaces :/

Not being able to change resolution is usually a graphic card problem, check the first box to see if you have other graphic card options, if not I recommend re-installing the graphic card drivers. Also, make sure you're running setup.exe as admin of course.

If you are using Windows 8 it might be the reason.

I already tried to use other graphic card settings but it didn't change anything >.<
Well I just bought a new laptop and it has windows 8 OS ... :o

Then, you might want to try doing following steps:

a) If your heRO is installed inside Program Files (either one if there's 2), please move it from there.
b) Right click on all of the heRO.exe, heROpatcher.exe abd setup.exe, Compatibility tab, tick Run as administrator.
c) Disable UAC 1 2

If all of that won't work last resort would be to edit registry, but let's see if any of these help first.
