Here's the definitive website on the matter:

http://www.hasthelargehadroncolliderdest...ldyet.com/

Anything else is just speculation.

"Male Scientists Discovered the Ultimate Means of Collecting Puppy Dog Tails (along with other things)."

"boys will be boys.
their guns and their toys.
with the Large Hadron collider in hand.
they bring about the world's End.
The End."
~The humming of the LHC

here is the analysis of how you will die if the LHC caused the world's end:

to be precise if it does create a black hole, the growth rate will grow more like an exponential function over a very long period of time (7 years). when someone finally notices it it would have been too late, and by the time the world is notified you would be in too much pain to care.

by then we'll be slowly sucked into a black hole as we are de-atomised and each one of our matter is stretched infinitely long and thin.

in which case in the beginning as pressure decrease internally your every organs will be torn asunder and every bone and joints be pulled apart ever so slowly at first. your body fluid will evaporate due to the pressure transition and you will bloat like a balloon for a moment. it will be sucked dry out of your by then horribly mangled and twitching body. (refer to the first mummy movie for a depiction of this)

the gases created from the transition of phase will cause cavitation inside your body (like microscopic bomblets, explosively boiling, bubbling away inside your arteries, veins and other vessels of interstitial fluids). by which end you will be in too much pain to care, not to mention it will be sucked out of you from the orifice closest to your point of entry to the black hole. so do a handstand before you get sucked in so your brain boils first for a quick death. (1)

note that the chain of events will inflict damage to you starting from your point of entry. so I would recommend that you choose carefully how you die to avoid excruciatingly prolonged death.(2)

Disclaimer:
1.)last sentence of (1) and (2) may not apply to some participants such as goths, emos and various other death themed subculture.

2.)Universal freedom of choice does not apply to events of catastrophic apocalyptic disasters caused by irrational experimentation.

3.)In the event of apocalyptic catastrophic event, scientists working on the LHC would express their displeasure for lack of divine intervention during the irrational experimentation.
As the old saying goes, "I didn't do it!" and "Why God? Why?".

When someone calls you a lunatic and the first thing that came to mind is a cute, fluffy, white bunny, you know you've played too much RO.

Welcome to our world.

ROFL!!! I love how when science goes wrong the first thing they do is blame god or pray to god to fix their mistake.

RE: Literal end of world...maybe

When my experiment goes wrong, I try to figure out why it went wrong.

Only movie scientists, with parts written up by non-scientists, instantly assume all is lost.

I don't know any scientist, religious or otherwise (and yes, I know scientists whose first degree is in religion) who would act that way.

Oh, science can be fun. Even the failures.

Just depends on the scale of failure, really.

And a giant tank of liquid helium never hurts to have around.

How far is science towards the creation of Air Treks?

On a more serious note, the biggest issue in all this was that the scientists at CERN needed to better communicate with the general public. They needed to trot Stephen Hawking out a whole lot sooner than they did, and by a whole lot I mean a few years ago.

Also, the media LOVES scaring people. I heard one news publication went as far as to say it would be their last. And now the same newspapers, blogs, what have you are saying there's absolutely no risk and that the LHC will revolutionize the internet. o_o; Not that I didn't know the media was evil before.

I don't use @main. Do not ask for me there
