Old School RPG's

Talking about strategy old games, anyone knows OgreBattle? The first one was for SNES then the second came on N64. It was a great game, almost as good as Front Mission(SNES) which is one of the best strategic games for SNES.
Omg, how could I forget Mario RPG!?!? SO awesome, unbelievable graphics for a SNES game and really fun!
I didn't play 7th Saga much, just some years ago and even so I only played for, like, 1 or 2 days, I didn't find it good enough to remain playing so I gave it up o_o'
So many old school RPGs I don't even know which one to write about xP

ogre battle is regular turn based RPG, but TACTICS ogre is the grandfather of FFT...

btw, FFT FTW!!

well tactics ogre is also good in the sense that character development and the supplies-equips balance is very restrictive, making it an enjoyable game for advanced player...

the terrain adjustments are imho the best in the genre as i rarely see in other games archers and range attackers being able to attack further away due to terrain (which is VERY realistic)...

and tactics ogre also provides a 2-player function for training as opposed to random encounters... and the characters ACTUALLY DIE!!! nice...

but then FFT comes along with more cinematics, a nicer FF touch to gameplay, and a storyline which is a bit easier to grasp...

so yeah i love em both...


as for the ultima series, i played a bit... never really liked it...

anyone know of Hero's quest or Quest for Glory?
IMHO they provide the best flow of story and character development...

Anyone played Vanguard Bandits? It wasn't super well made (at least not the animation) and translation was not perfect, but somehow the game still left a strong impression on me.

Those 2 are PlayStation 1 games however, so not really that old (at least not to me, old is nes/snes)
