What are the pros and cons about Moscovia dungeon having a quest? - Rai - 09-24-2012 A few years ago, I remember that this server has no quest that has needed to be done to go to these dungeons: Moscovia & Nameless. Why is it that there's a quest now? I'm thinking that removing the quest might bring us more new players. My reasons for making the Moscovia dungeon accessible are: 1. New players won't be bothered to go to the harder way to level up. (I have a lv40 merch now, I was told to go int build[bolt geographers] then reset afterwards, as a new player I can't afford to buy fireblend and reset anytime) 2. New players can't farm the stuff needed for the quest. (They got no gears except some npc stuff) 3. New players can get easier money for selling the Aloe leaflets & stems they get. (Good for the economy, I think) 4. New players won't be bored since they are leveling smoothly. (I tend to see new players leavie after ranting that wolves gives low exp) I dunno about nameless, I'm much concerned about new players getting to their lv70s smoothly. I'd glad to hear any comments/suggestion/reaction about this. Thank you! Edit: Typos RE: What are the pros and cons about Moscovia and Nameless Island having a quest? - Snowhawk - 09-24-2012 Don't forget that the Moscovia quest is broken. It gives the same monsters everytime you do it. The higher tier Monsters. Merman and them. I did it on four different characters, all various levels, all got the same monsters. Namless is a series of quests. I have an extremely hard time doing them on my Assassin, little chance of me being able to do them on my other characters without help, no one ever helps. I got lucky and saved the warp location on my Mage before the quest started so I don't have to worry about doing the quest with him, but my other characters will never get to level in Moscovia until I get into the 80s or 90s. RE: What are the pros and cons about Moscovia and Nameless Island having a quest? - Former-GM-Chaucer - 09-24-2012 The quests are there for the same reason there is an entrance quest to Rachel, and restrictions on parties within Thanatos tower - Gravity coded them to be that way. The quests are not customized but are instead the quests that should be there to restrict access to the dungeons. There are other places to 'smoothly' level into the 70's and although they might not be the 'best' locations to level there are still multiple quests as well as gears that can assist in leveling a new character into and past the 70's. I might be mistaken, but I remember for a while a list of quests that people would run through, and if started at the right level and done beginning to end would give a non-trans character quite a few levels and almost into the 89+ share range. As for the concern that players do not have the items needed to complete the quests- if they are unable to farm the items needed for the quests, the players are unable to survive, let alone level within the dungeon. For example the items required to do all of the quests to get into nameless are- candy (toy factory drops) glacial hearts (ice dungeon drops) fire crackers (NPC sells) Green herbs (found all over on all types of monsters and plants) Milk (NPC buyable, and easy to farm from krabben or orc baby) Empty bottles (ant hell or poring drops) Monster feed (NPC buyable, easy to farm from wolves) Unripe apple (poring drop) Yellow Potion (NPC buyable) Steel (easy farm from high orcs or pitman) Green Potion (NPC buyable) Yellow Gemstone (NPC buyable) The most difficult part about getting those items for a new player, might be just getting to the locations needed to farm the items, but none of those drops are under 1%, none of them are in difficult dungeons, and the only hard part about that line of quests is making it through alive in Thors, which you can do if you just buy a bunch of f-wings and port around. If a character is unable to get these simple items to do a quest, then there is not really that great of hope for them to survive inside Nameless. The quests are there to help you get ready for the dungeons. If you are unable to run the quest to get into the dungeon, then you have no reason to go inside of the dungeon. Also, Ragnarok does have some story lines built into it, it's not just one giant grind fest after another. Enjoy the quests and the stories that they tell, some of them are actually really entertaining. RE: What are the pros and cons about Moscovia and Nameless Island having a quest? - Rai - 09-24-2012 My main concern is about Moscovia dungeon since it's a great help for us, newbies. I don't really mind nameless quest (since if I reach lv80 I could farm for the items needed efficiently), it's just before I left the server, these two dungeons are accessible without doing a quest. (I'd change the title then to moscovia only, instead of these two) I'd like to hear what are those smooth locations for a lv30-40 Merch/Swordie. Though I don't wanna hear going int build and go cast bolts on random non-moving monsters. RE: What are the pros and cons about Moscovia dungeon having a quest? - Former-GM-Chaucer - 09-24-2012 Here is a good link that is pinned in the guides section of this forum for people asking just that question - http://pandoraonline.net/forum/showthread.php?tid=17468 RE: What are the pros and cons about Moscovia dungeon having a quest? - Snowhawk - 09-24-2012 Only issue is you can't do Moscovia without help due to monster spawn still being broken. I still can't complete it with my wizard who one shots both Les and Woodgoblins but I die cause of the Merman. My Swordsman and Merchant also have the Merman which isn't supposed to be spawned for them due to their levels. I tried to follow the Acolyte guide and found it hard to do or ineffective during my years here. I just tend to level all my characters the same way minus my Acolyte who I've pretty much given up on until I get friends on who can level him. That was also written from one person's stand point which doesn't speak for a group. The writer doesn't see Muka as a decent leveling spot, but from personal experience it is a great low level spot until wolves and even lowers the effect on wolf leveling by a slight bit. RE: What are the pros and cons about Moscovia dungeon having a quest? - Kittie - 09-24-2012 Accually the quest is easy, other then the item gathering part you can finish it by yourself easily even without touching the monsters. If you wait 5 minutes after the monsters spawn they will die whether you touched them or not, you could also try flywinging around or hide from the monsters. If you don't want to do that, i heard people say you can also log off for those 5 minutes and they will still die. The quest might be buggy and the monsters tough for low lvls but these tips should do the trick. RE: What are the pros and cons about Moscovia dungeon having a quest? - Snowhawk - 09-24-2012 I've done that and it always resummons them.??I was told you have to kill them yourself after testing the wait period twice when I was still doing it on my Sin.??I had to kill them with my Sin to progress, and when I did hid with my Swordy I had to summon them over and over again if I waited. I've stopped using my swordie for other reasons though and my Merch is pretty much just for selling crud now. I mostly play on my Sin and Wizzy now since I have more I can do and feel like trying to get them as high as I possibly can so I can start making money. RE: What are the pros and cons about Moscovia dungeon having a quest? - GM-Rahice - 09-24-2012 Once I did it I got Obeanue and Hydra. The rest of the times, I always get the 2 Kapha and the 1 Merman. Proving that there are other monsters but the level limitation isnt' there. I did it on a 43 thief and got the Kapha and Merman. I've done it on several chars when they were around level 45 and too weak to kill them. |
